Iga Swiatek is the favorite ahead of the Cincinnati Masters but her nearest rival Aryna Sabalenka looks the best pick in the futures market.

MTS Cincinnati Masters Betting Briefing
The Cincinnati Masters, also known as the Western and Southern Open, was first played in 1899 and it is one of the oldest and most prestigious events on the WTA Circuit. For US tennis, it is considered second only to the US Open in the ranking of major summer events, and it is obviously a key warm-up for the final Grand Slam of the season.
The event is staged at the Lindner Family Tennis Center, which is an outdoor hard court surface at which the courts play a little faster than average, so players with powerful serves can have a slight advantage, although that is not as pronounced as it would be on grass.
Another factor at this event is the fact that some players will be aiming to peak in time for the US Open, and with some players still a little rusty after taking a break following Wimbledon, there can be an element of unpredictability to the results here.
MTS Cincinnati Masters Favorites
Iga Swiatek, Aryna Sabalenka and Elena Rybakina are the main favorites ahead of the Cincinnati Masters with Swiatek most prominent, but once again the world number one doesn’t offer much value in the futures markets here. She returned to action at Montreal last week, but although she reached the semi-finals, before eventually losing to Jessica Pegula, she looked extremely rusty and her play was full of uncharacteristic unforced errors throughout the tournament.
Elena Rybakina also reached the semi-finals in Montreal, and should be sharper here, but she has a tough section of the draw that includes Washington winner Cori Gauff, Montreal runner-up Liudmila Samsonova and the unpredictable Jelena Ostapenka.
Of the three favorites, Aryna Sabalenka looks the best betting option. She didn’t play well in Montreal, but she has been pretty consistent this year, so there’s a strong chance that she will return to something like her best form at an event where she made the last four last year. Ons Jabeur appears to be her main challenger in that section of the draw, but the Tunisian is making her return to action after Wimbledon and a fast hard court is not her preferred surface.
MTS Cincinnati Masters Contenders
The main contender outside the top three, at least, according to the Futures markets is Jessica Pegula, who beat Cori Gauff and Iga Swiatek on her way to the title in Montreal last week. Her form in North America this year has been excellent and she is building towards a challenge for her first Grand Slam title.
There are dangers in her section of the draw, with Maria Sakkari likely to be her quarter-final opponent and the 2019 winner of this event, Madison Keys, potentially opposing her in the third round, but considering the form that she is in, she is still a value pick here.
Fellow US star Cori Gauff will also have her supporters here, and although she appears to be in a tough section of the draw, she has a winning record against the top player in her quarter, Elena Rybakina. Still, this faster court is not ideal for her style of play, even though she has upped her aggression levels this year, and she hasn’t gone further than the second round in three attempts.
Both Ons Jabeur and Liudmilla Samsonova would have a good reason not to be at their sharpest, and Maria Sakkari and Madison Keys will have to get past Jessica Pegula, so if you’re looking for another name to add to your futures portfolio at a bigger price, Marketa Vondrousova could be the answer.
Wimbledon winner Vondrousova was knocked out in the third round by Cori Gauff in Montreal but she was entitled to need that tournament after a long post-Wimbledon break and although she hasn’t made much of an impact in this event, she is still at the start of her career. Significantly, the courts here will be faster than they were in Canada and that could be to her advantage, and she looks like a value bet at good odds this week.
