Astros Are Favored Over The Yankees To Win The American League

The fact that it’s already early March is something that a lot of people can’t believe. This means that in less than a month, Opening Day will arrive for Major League Baseball. People across the globe are jacked up for things to get started and MyTopSportsbooks will have you covered with all the previews you’ll need. This includes our picks and predictions. To start, keep in mind that the Astros are favored over the Yankees to win the American League this season.

This is a league battle that’s expected to go back and forth throughout the entire campaign. With the Astros, they have the confidence of being the reigning World Series champs. Last season, Houston surprised a lot of people by cruising in the postseason. After taking down the Seattle Mariners in the ALDS, the Astros had no issues at all beating the Yankees in the ALCS soon after.

Looking ahead to next season, a lot of people are already predicting for these two teams to face off with a trip to the World Series on the line. The Astros and Yankees are both loaded with talent, but again, Houston is still riding high after not only beating them last fall, but also going on to win the World Series as well. It’s going to be tough for anyone to silence Houston moving forward.

According to the best-rated sportsbooks, the Astros hold +300 MLB betting odds to win the American League. Not only that, but they also hold the best World Series betting odds at +600. Everyone thinks that Houston will be the team to beat in the AL this year and understandably so. With Jose Altuve, Yordan Alvarez, Alex Bregman and others, they’re quite the squad. However, we’re going in a different direction for our AL winners.

The Yankees are our pick to win the American League

Thanks to the big offseason they’ve had, the Yankees are our pick to win the American League. New York was poised to go on a World Series run last campaign, however, the Astros had other ideas. With that said, it indeed has been a past few months to remember for the Yankees, highlighted by bringing in star pitcher Carlos Rodon and re-signing Aaron Judge to his massive contract. Judge, who hit 62 homers last season, is glad to be back with the Bronx Bombers.

“He’s an amazing player, and an amazing person that certainly has the respect of everyone in that room,” Yankees manager Aaron Boone said after it was announced that the Yankees had signed Judge to his big deal. “Guys look to him, look up to him. When you have a player of that caliber that is as beloved and important as he is on a daily basis, you want to do your best to hang on to that.”

Judge took home AL MVP honors last season and he’s hoping to repeat in 2023 as well. If he somehow pulls that off, then Yankees fans are going to be over the moon. It’ll help the Yankees offense out in a big way too. What needs to happen for the Yankees to be strong throughout the campaign is for them to stay healthy, especially Judge and fellow slugger Giancarlo Stanton.
Those two have had injury issues in the past, which can’t continue. On the bump, both Gerrit Cole and Rodon have high Yankees betting odds in terms of the AL Cy Young, which speaks to how talented the rotation is. If Cole and Rodon can be one of the best duos in the bigs, it’s going to be a problem for the rest of the bigs, including the Astros. It feels like this is the year where NY gets over the top. The Yankees indeed are our pick to win the AL and get back to the World Series.

There are some surprise teams who could push for the AL title as well

While the Astros and the Yankees are without question considered the top squads out there, there are some surprise teams who could push for the AL title as well. In the AL East alone, the Toronto Blue Jays are always going to be a team to watch. Bo Bichette, Vlad Guerrero Jr., Geore Springer and others are ready to try and take down the Yankees in the division. That surely won’t be an easy task.
Meanwhile in the AL West, the Seattle Mariners made it to the playoffs last season, ending a stretch of more than 20 years without being in the postseason. The Mariners are hoping to surprise a lot of people by not only getting back to the playoffs, but bringing home the division title over the Astros. That also will be quite difficult to get done.
Even if the Blue Jays or Mariners don’t win the AL East or AL West, respectively, they will surely be teams to watch in the playoffs. Crazier things have happened: you never know if either of these teams will be able to record a stunning upset when taking on the Astros or Yankees. All in all, though, we should find out more about teams’ odds once the season gets underway soon.
