Hot Start Has the Braves as the New Favorites to Win the World Series

We have been able to enjoy a little over a month of the 2023 Major League Baseball season and things have been amazing to watch. Some teams have been electric, while other organizations haven’t lived up to the hype. As for clubs who have impressed, goodness, the Atlanta Braves have been nothing short of sensational. They’ve sent a clear message to the rest of the National League. With that too, the hot start has the Braves as the new favorites to win the World Series.

As of this writing, the Braves are 18-9 on the year. They are also three games ahead of the Mets in the NL East standings. While the Phillies have struggled a bit through the first month, both the Braves and Mets have reminded a lot of people as to why they’re so dang good. This NL East battle figures to come down to the two of them late in the year. However, Atlanta should be able to come away with the division title.

What makes Atlanta so dangerous is they are loaded when it comes to young talent for the lineup. Guys like Ronald Acuna Jr., Matt Olson and more have been superb to kickstart the 2023 campaign. In addition to that, the Braves have fantastic pitchers for both their starting rotation and the bullpen as well. This could end up making a difference for them once the postseason arrives.

According to the best-rated sportsbooks, which includes the reliable Bovada review, the Braves now hold +550 MLB betting odds to win the World Series. Behind them are the Houston Astros at +700, the Dodgers at +800 and the New York Yankees at +1000. This season is going to be one to remember and Atlanta could end up winning it all once again. However, we’re going in a different direction for our title winners.

The Yankees are our pick to win the 2023 World Series

Throughout the preseason, we stuck with New York as our champs. With that said, we are sticking to our guns, as the Yankees are our pick to win the 2023 World Series. Despite the Bronx Bombers struggling at the plate to start the new season, there’s just no way this is going to continue for the next few months. Aaron Judge has been special, but the guys behind him haven’t been the same, which has been rough.

Giancarlo Stanton continues to battle being inconsistent, but the main issue here for Stanton is that he can’t stay healthy for too long of a stretch. He was recently placed on the Injured List with a hamstring injury. Again? That’s quite frustrating, but the hope is he can get back on the field in the near future. As for lefty Carlos Rodon, the starter is working his way back and the hope is that he can make his Yankees debut soon as well.

“He hasn’t lost a lot of throwing time,’’ Yankees general manager Aaron Boone said via the New York Post on Rodon’s back injury. “He should get right back into throwing bullpen sessions as soon as he can get through this. He’ll continue to throw this week as the back issue subsidies and the medicine does its thing.”

Getting Rodon back to full health is quite important. He was one of the biggest moves for the Yankees this offseason, but he still hasn’t been able to take the bump at Yankee Stadium. As soon as he gets back, it will provide a needed boost for the rotation. Boone is eyeing this month as a target for Rodon to take the hill. Soon enough, he will be ready to rock and the Yankees will get back to their usual level. We think it will result in their World Series betting odds improving as well.

There are other teams in the mix for the World Series too

While the Yankees and Braves are our top popular teams, there are other teams in the mix for the World Series too. At the top of the list has to be the Houston Astros. The Astros won the World Series last year and they’ve returned a boatload of starters. For Houston, the big loss from last offseason was seeing Justin Verlander sign a new deal with the New York Mets. However, the depth is there for Houston.

In addition to the Astros, you’re never going to want to lose focus on the Los Angeles Dodgers. The NL West club features Clayton Kershaw, Mookie Betts, Freddie Freeman and many other studs. The Dodgers won it all in 2020. Now, they’re hoping to get back to the Fall Classic later this year too. They certainly have the pieces to get that done.

There are surely some sleeper teams to keep in mind as well. The list includes the Mets, Phillies, Cardinals, Padres, Mariners, Blue Jays, Guardians – the list goes on. From our chair, though, the Yankees, Astros, Dodgers and Braves seem like serious contenders. We can’t wait to find out who ends up lifting the trophy in November.
