As expected, it has been a year to remember thus far for the Los Angeles Dodgers. This team is in the World Series conversation and the fans all over California are hoping they can stay in the hunt once the fall rolls around. Next week, the Dodgers will hope to keep things rocking before the All-Star Game arrives on July 11. However, they’ve got a big series this weekend against Kansas City. With that said, the Dodgers are favored to take down the Royals in the series finale on Sunday.
This is a game that the Dodgers will have zero excuses in. While the two teams are yet to announce who they will be starting on the bump, we can’t ignore the fact that the Royals have been one of the worst teams in the bigs. If it weren’t for the Oakland Athletics, then we’d surely be talking about Kansas City being at the bottom of everything. KC hasn’t been much better in their games, though.

As of this writing, the Royals are 22-57 on the year, which is beyond disappointing. It figured to be a rebuilding year for the AL Central side, but no one thought they’d be 35 games under .500 at this point in the campaign. On the other hand, the Dodgers are 44-34 on the year and ready to not only take home the NL West title this fall, but they’re also going to be poised to go on a deep postseason run.

Freddie Freeman remains in the hunt to win NL MVP
One major talking point in the past few months is that Freddie Freeman remains in the hunt to win NL MVP, as the star first baseman has been nothing short of brilliant this campaign. Freeman, one of the best infielders in the game, will look to have a strong showing against the Royals from start to finish in this series. Luckily for Freeman, and the rest of the LA hitters, the Kansas City starting rotation has been abysmal this year.
Freeman has been putting up incredible numbers for this team, which has been awesome. Freeman is best known for his playing days with the Atlanta Braves, but he made his way to the Dodgers prior to last season on a massive six-year deal. Freeman has backed up his epic deal, as he’s currently hitting .316, with 14 home runs and 48 RBI. His batting average is currently fourth in the rankings.

Per the oddsmakers, Freeman holds +750 MLB betting odds to win NL MVP. It goes without saying, but his main competition to take home the award is Ronald Acuna Jr., who has been sensational for the Braves. With Acuna playing so well, Atlanta’s World Series betting odds have gone up tremendously since the start of the season. Acuna has been a beast both at the plate and in the field.
Right now, Acuna is the clear-cut No. 1 favorite to win NL MVP, but you never know what might end up happening during the second half of the season. Freeman will be ready to post a strong series against the Royals. Then he’ll look to keep things rocking after the All-Star break as well. Freeman has what it takes to make this a memorable campaign. With LA playing so well, fans continue to wonder can the Dodgers win the world series this season? Tampa Bay has been a pleasant surprise in the American League, while both Atlanta and LA have been tremendous in the NL.
For the Dodgers, they last won the World Series in 2020 and now they’re hoping they can find a way to get the job done again in the coming months. That won’t be easy, as the Braves are the top team in the NL. But if these two teams meet in the NLCS, then people would be over the moon: that’d be an intriguing series.
With guys like Freeman, Mookie Betts, Clayton Kershaw, JD Martinez and others, the Dodgers most definitely have the talent to win it all. If they can stay healthy this summer, then it’s only going to help their chances of winning it all. It’ll be interesting to see how things play out, but the Dodgers will 100 percent be a team to keep an eye on.
