Could this end up being a preview of the 2023 World Series? That’s what a lot of people think could be the case, as the New York Yankees and Los Angeles Dodgers are all set to meet later this week for what should be a fun series. Right now, the Yankees are on the west coast taking on the Seattle Mariners, with their stars putting on a show at T-Mobile Park. In the coming days, though, the Dodgers are favored to top the Yankees on Friday night in LA.
The stands are going to be packed at Dodger Stadium, as it’s always a fun showdown whenever these two teams meet. The starting pitchers for both of these teams are yet to be announced, but the Dodgers will look to protect their home-field advantage in this one. Both of these sides have been fantastic for May and they’ll surely look to keep things going for June and beyond.

With the Dodgers, they have a fantastic starting rotation and the hot bats of Mookie Betts, Freddie Freeman and others. As for the Yankees, they’re of course led by Aaron Judge, who is once again looking like an MVP candidate this season. Judge has been brilliant vs. the Mariners this week, blasting two home runs against them in Seattle on Monday night. He’s really playing on a different level.
According to the best-rated sportsbooks, which includes the reliable Bovada review, the Dodgers hold -115 MLB betting odds for this showdown. The Yankees are set at +125. While the Yankees have the offensive capabilities to post a lot of runs in this one, we think that the Dodgers will be able to have a night to remember. The NL West club has been that good. With that said, we’re going with the Dodgers as our pick.

The over should hit between the Yankees and Dodgers
With so much talent for these two teams, the over should hit between the Yankees and Dodgers on Friday night. As we mentioned above, the starting pitchers for both teams haven’t been announced yet, but we can’t ignore the kind of offensive power that these teams feature. No one can argue that the Yankees and Dodgers have two of the strongest lineups in the major leagues.
The Yankees on their own are always going to be a threat to put a lot of runs on the board because of Judge. He’s putting up some historic numbers once again this season. Don’t forget that in 2022, he set the American League record by hitting 62 home runs. It was an unreal season for Judge and he’s only looking better after he signed his massive nine-year, $360 million contract with the Yankees last offseason.

The only thing that’s rough for the Yankees right now is that fellow slugger Giancarlo Stanton remains out of the lineup due to his injury. Harrison Bader also suffered an injury on Monday against the Mariners, and there’s a chance that he could be out for the weekend series. However, the Yankees have great depth, which is going to help manager Aaron Boone as he starts to prepare for the Friday matchup.
Per the oddsmakers, the over/under has been set at seven runs. Whoever gets the nod on the bump for the Yankees and Dodgers will have their hands full in trying to contain each lineup. We wouldn’t be surprised at all to see these two powerhouses combine for at least 10 runs. This is going to be a fun meeting regardless and people are no question going to be entertained with the action from start to finish.
Dodgers are now the favorites to win the World Series
With things moving around so quickly, the Dodgers are now the favorites to win the World Series. Just a few weeks ago, the Braves were the top dogs, but LA has been able to pass them. As things stand, the Dodgers hold +470 World Series betting odds and the Braves are right behind them at +480. Other teams in the mix of course include the Rays, Astros, Yankees, Mets and others.
A lot of people are hoping for the Braves and the Dodgers to meet in the NLCS. This would be an incredible series, with a lot of folks predicting it to go the full seven games. As for the ALCS, the Astros are favored to win it and get back to the World Series. Remember that Houston won it all last year and Dusty Baker’s men are hoping to go back-to-back. Both the Rays and Yankees will be fired up to prevent that from happening.
Right now, though, all eyes are on the Dodgers. It has the makings of being a year to remember for them, with a lot of people placing their bets on them to win it all. From our chair, it wouldn’t be a surprise at all to see the Dodgers come out on top and grab the World Series trophy.
