• New York Mets vs. San Francisco Giants
• Saturday, April 22 at 4:05 PM ET
• Oracle Park in San Francisco, California
Things have been rocking for the New York Mets and this team is ready to make a huge splash for the rest of the campaign. The Queens club is off to a hot start, with its fans excited for the future and what it has to offer. The pitching has been fantastic and the hitting has been superb. That’s usually the case when Francisco Lindor and Pete Alonso are at the heart of the lineup. And with San Francisco hosting them, the Mets Should take down the Giants in Saturday’s matchup.
While SF had high hopes for the 2023 campaign, things just haven’t gone according to plan. As of this writing, the NL West side is 6-11 on the year, while the Mets are 12-7. The Giants were hoping to push for an NL West title this year, but it’s going to be a total shock if anyone can bring down the Los Angeles Dodgers. Meanwhile for the Mets, they’re in a strong spot to capture the NL East glory.

After a rough go in the postseason last fall, the Mets are hoping to bounce back in a big way later this campaign. The addition of Justin Verlander has people fired up about what this team can do in the playoffs, if they advance that is. There are no excuses for the Mets, as they need to record convincing wins against teams who hold inconsistent records. That’s the case this weekend vs. the Giants.
According to the best-rated sportsbooks, which includes the reliable Bovada review, the Mets hold -115 MLB betting odds, while the Giants have been set at +125. The Giants will hope to protect their home field, as plenty of fans will be at Oracle Park for this one. However, with New York playing so well, and the bats staying hot, we’re going with the Mets as our pick to post a victory in this one.

The over should hit for the Mets vs. Giants on Saturday
With the pitching matchup for this one, the over should hit for the Mets vs. Giants on Saturday. With New York, they’re going with David Peterson as their starter. Peterson has been struggling to kick off the new year, as he has a 1-2 record and a concerning 6.10 ERA. While Peterson does a great job of recording strikeouts, hitters have had a ton of success when facing off against him.
Meanwhile for the Giants, they’ll be giving the ball to Logan Webb, who is usually a reliable starting hurler. However, that hasn’t been the case in 2023. Webb is 0-4 on the year, losing all four of his starts this season. This is not what anyone was expecting to see. Not only that, but he also has a 4.94 ERA. With the Mets batters ready to post huge weekend numbers, this will be bad news for Webb and the Giants as a whole.

“Hopefully I can continue to ride this for as long as I can,” Alonso said on his hot start to the new campaign for the Mets. “I feel like I’m seeing the ball really well, body feels good. Just want to continue capitalizing on pitches in my zone and minimizing chase.”
Alonso has been on a tear and more of the same should be on the way on Saturday. According to the oddsmakers, the over/under has been set at 6.5 runs. From our chair, it would be tough to imagine any scenario where at least seven runs are not scored. That’s how bad Webb and Peterson have been this season. With all of that said, we’re 100 percent going with the over as our pick for this one.
The Mets are in the NL Pennant hunt and fans are fired up
Early on in 2023, the Mets are in the NL Pennant hunt and fans are fired up about how NY can perform moving forward. As you’ve probably heard before, the Mets suffered a disappointing loss in the postseason last year, ending their campaign early. Mets supporters were hoping for a Fall Classic run, but that did not happen. Now, the Mets are ready to try and get back to the World Series.
The Mets have strong MLB betting odds right now to win the National League, as they’ve been set at +600. They’re behind the Braves, Dodgers and Padres, but the Mets are considered among the favorites to potentially get to the World Series once November rolls around. The Braves have seen their betting odds skyrocket over the past two weeks, as Atlanta has been nothing short of sensational.
The Braves are favored to win the NL East and NL Pennant, plus their World Series betting odds are impressive. Atlanta is stacked with an unreal amount of talent, but the Mets are ready to try and bring them back down to earth sooner than later. If the Mets can not only win the division, but push for the World Series too, then it will haunt Atlanta fans for years to come. Trust us when we say that people in Flushing would love nothing more than to see that happen.
