At this point in the Major League Baseball regular season, no one thought that the Baltimore Orioles would be playing so well. Not only that, who would have thought that they’d be playing a lot better than the New York Yankees. That’s exactly what has been the case and people are excited for these two teams to face off for a big series this week. With that said, the Orioles are favored to beat the Yankees in Sunday’s series finale.
As of this writing, Baltimore is an impressive 62-40 on the year. The Orioles have been without question one of the biggest surprises in the bigs this year. The Yankees have been too, but in a negative way. New York is 54-48 on the season, on the outside looking in for the postseason. Unless the Yankees don’t catch fire soon, then there’s a strong chance that they’ll miss out on the playoffs.

That’s why this three-game series with Baltimore is so important. The Orioles are pushing for an AL East title, but the expectation is that they will grab a Wild Card spot. However, the Orioles have a chance to make a major statement if they can take care of business vs. the Yankees. If they win the series, including a victory over the Bronx Bombers on Sunday, then people will surely have to start showing them some respect.

Taking a look at things from an offensive standpoint, the over should hit between the Yankees and Orioles on Sunday. Both of these offenses hold a ton of power and the good news for the Yankees is that Aaron Judge is expected to make his return to the lineup on Friday. We don’t have to tell you how massive this is going to be for the New York offense, as Aaron Boone and Co. have certainly missed the star outfielder.
Judge has missed a ton of action this year due to his serious toe injury. Before he was sidelined, Judge posted a .291 batting average, with 19 home runs and 40 RBI. No one can question how impressive he is with the bat in his hands, as Judge has the ability to leave the yard whenever he’s at the dish. As soon as get backs back in the batter’s box for New York, fans will be ready to see him put on a show.

As for the Orioles, they also have an impressive lineup and they’ll look to make life difficult for NY starter Luis Severino. Severino is getting the start in this one and he has been far from perfect throughout the campaign. He made countless headlines after tossing a perfect game, but at the end of the day he holds a 2-4 record with a disastrous 6.46 ERA. Severino has been so bad, plenty of fans have been calling for the team to part ways with him.
With Severino struggling so much of late on the bump, Baltimore certainly has a great chance to put up some big numbers.
