Yankees Are Favored to Take Down the Athletics in a Game They Should Win

• New York Yankees vs. Oakland Athletics
• Wednesday, May 10 at 12:35 PM ET
• Yankee Stadium in the Bronx, New York

With the New York Yankees struggling in a big way this year, barely sitting above .500, it’s time for this team to wake up and get back on the right track. Luckily for Yankees fans, they’ve got a key home series on the way, with the Bronx Bombers set to host the lowly Oakland Athletics. Oakland is easily the worst team in the majors, which means there are no excuses for Aaron Boone and Co. And on Wednesday, the Yankees are favored to take down the Athletics in a game they should win.

What’s worrying for the Yankees is that they continue to be without two of the best sluggers in the game: Aaron Judge and Giancarlo Stanton. Judge was recently placed on the 10-day Injured List with a hip issue, while Stanton has been dealing with a hamstring problem. This is terrible news for the Yankees, but it has forced other players to step up and make a difference in the lineup.

Looking ahead to the matchup with the Athletics, the NY bats will be going up against left-handed starter Kyle Muller. Like the other hurlers in the rotation for the A’s, Muller has been terrible this season. He holds a 1-2 record and an ERA above 6.00. That’s  never going to cut it, especially going up against a team like the Yankees. While NY has been up and down at the dish, they still have a ton of talent.

According to the best-rated sportsbooks, which includes the reliable Bovada review, the Yankees hold -115 MLB betting odds to post a victory in this one, while the A’s have been set at +125. As much as people might think the Yankees could lose with both Judge and Stanton hurt, we don’t think that will be the case. Oakland is terrible and things aren’t looking up for them. The Yankees are our pick.

The over should hit in the Yankees vs. A’s matchup

Leading up to things, the over should hit in the Yankees vs. A’s matchup. Not only has Muller struggled this year, but New York will be starting Jhony Brito on Wednesday afternoon. While Brito has the potential to be strong, he’s also in the middle of a rough campaign for the Yankees. Thus far this season, he’s 2-3, with a 6.08 ERA. Just like Muller, his ERA is a major concern for a lot of fans.

While the Athletics don’t have the kind of power that the Yankees do, they still have enough talent to put some runs on the board. Meanwhile for the Yankees, no Judge or Stanton could be a problem, but look for guys like Anthony Rizzo, Harrison Bader, Aaron Hicks and Gleyber Torres to step up and provide the fanbase with a lot of smiles as well. Boone has all the confidence in his guys to get the job done.

However, there’s a chance that Judge will be able to return this week. With that, we could end up seeing him out on the field on Wednesday. If Judge is able to give things a go, then the fans at Yankee Stadium will surely be ecstatic. Even when he’s not at 100 percent, Judge is one of the best players out there. His 62 home runs from last season are still something that a lot of folks talk about.

Per the oddsmakers, the over/under has been set at 6.5 runs. With both starting pitchers struggling and Judge potentially suiting up for this one as well, there’s a good chance that we see a lot of runs scored at Yankee Stadium. It wouldn’t be a stunner at all to see things flirt with 10 total runs. With all of that said, we like the -110 MLB betting odds for the under. This should be a high-scoring affair come Wednesday.

Yankees have seen their World Series odds fall tremendously

In some concerning news for people in New York, the Yankees have seen their World Series odds fall tremendously since the start of the season. Indeed, when it comes to the Yankees World Series betting numbers, they now hold +1400 odds to win it all. That’s nearly double from where things were this offseason.

Injuries have been a major problem for the club from the Bronx, as people are still waiting to see left-handed hurler Carlos Rodon make his team debut. Not only that, but Stanton and Judge being banged up has been a huge bummer as well. Once this team returns to full health, everyone is optimistic that the Yankees’ betting odds can get a bit healthier.

At this point, though, the Tampa Bay Rays are not only the favorites to win the AL East, but a lot of people think they’ll end up winning the ALCS later this year as well. It would be wild to see the Rays get back to the World Series, but you never know what might end up happening. What we do know, however, is that the Yankees must clean up their act as soon as possible.
