Kyle Larson entered last week’s Pennzoil 400 race in Las Vegas as the betting favorite. After leading a whopping 181 laps of the 267-lap race on the 1.5-mile track, Larson took the checkered flag, winning for his first win since placing first on the same track at last year’s South Point 400 in October. Larson, who placed fourth and third in the two 2023 races at the Phoenix Raceway in 2023, is the betting favorite to win this week’s Shriners Children’s 500.

The 2024 Shriners Children’s 500 marks the 54th NASCAR Cup Series race to be held at Phoenix Raceway. The track is a 1-mile low-banked tri-oval. William Byron won the 2023 Shriners Children’s 500 after starting the race in the eighth spot. The fall race in Phoenix was won by Ross Chastain, who started in the No. 6 spot. Both Byron and Chastain are among the betting favorites to place first at the 2024 Shriners Children’s 500.

Kyle Larson

Kyle Larson, the winner of last week’s race in Las Vegas, has performed well at the Phoenix Raceway lately. Larson has finished in the top five in seven of his past 10 starts on the track. Larson, the driver of the No. 5 Chevy for Hendrick Motorsports, won on this track in 2021. He has only finished outside the top 10 in one race at the Phoenix Raceway since late 2018, when he placed 34th in March 2022.

In 2023, Larson began the Shriners Children’s 500 on the pole. He led 201 laps of the race and won Stage Two of the event before placing fourth. In the fall on this track, Larson began the race in the No. 5 spot. He did not lead any laps, but placed well, finishing the race in third place.

Despite only having one career victory in Phoenix, Larson should be a driver to bet on finishing in the top five at the very least.

Ryan Blaney

Ryan Blaney is due for a win in Phoenix. Blaney, who is racing well in 2024, finishing second in Atlanta and third in Las Vegas, has finished inside the top 10 in his past seven starts on this track and has eight top-10 finishes in his past 10 starts here. Blaney has finished in second place in Phoenix in his past three attempts to win on the track. In the fall race in 2022, Blaney led 109 laps.

Blaney, the driver of the No. 12 Ford for Team Penske, usually qualifies well on this track. In his 16 starts in Phoenix, Blaney has started in the top 10 12 times.

Blaney has been incredibly consistent on this track, and he’s a driver one should look at when betting on who will finish inside the top three or top five at the 2024 Shriners Children’s 500.

William Byron

The winner of this race in 2023, William Byron has finished inside the top six in each of his past three starts in Phoenix. The driver of the No. 24 Chevy for Hendrick Motorsports, Byron also qualifies well on this track, starting in the top three in four of his past starts in Phoenix, including starting on the pole in the fall race in 2023.

In the past two races on this course, Byron has led a total of 150 laps and he has won the first stage in each of those races.

Byron opened the 2024 NASCAR Cup season with a win in Daytona. He then placed 17th in Atlanta before moving up to 10th in Las Vegas last week.

Byron is another driver to look at placing a bet on to finish in the top five.
