Pro Florida Teams Are All for Legal Sports Betting

For all of you fans out there waiting for some Florida sports betting news to arrive, things continue to be in limbo. Unfortunately, the appeals court is still taking its time in coming to a decision. In case you missed it, the state is trying to have the legal sports betting ban overruled. Things were shut down by a U.S. District Judge in the fall of 2021. What could help things out here, though, is that pro Florida teams are all for legal sports betting.

Per a report, several of the top teams in the state have voiced their displeasure with the way things have been handled. Hey, it’s hard to argue with them, as this whole battle has been a complete and total mess. When things were launched for online betting via the Hard Rock Cafe, we saw a tremendous amount of support for the new project. This made a ton of sense, as it was in the middle of both the NFL and college football season.

However, the judge indeed ordered operations to stop shortly after it was introduced. This is something people all over Florida remain furious about, especially Governor Ron DeSantis and the leaders of The Seminole Tribe. They had their 30-year pact all signed and ready to rock, but the owners of the Magic City Casino decided to ruin everything by coming out on top with their filed lawsuit.

Now, though, the fact that multiple pro teams are pushing for the legalization could help out the state in their case. It’s basically the owners of the Magic City Casino against everyone else. People in Florida have been dying for legal sports betting to arrive and they surely want things to be put into place by the late summer. Only time will tell what happens, but it’s feeling like a coin flip at this point.

The Miami Dolphins have high interest in betting arriving

One thing to remember here is that the Miami Dolphins have high interest in betting arriving. Why, you ask? Don’t forget that the home field for the Dolphins is at the Hard Rock Stadium. With the Hard Rock Cafe ready to fire sports betting, things go hand in hand here. The hope is that one day sports betting kiosks can be present at the stadium so that people will be able to place their bets while watching the action.

If things do get reversed,  then there’s no question that Dolphins fans will be ready to check the NFL betting odds this fall. The Dolphins are most definitely a team to watch this season, especially after adding so many strong pieces on both sides of the ball in free agency and the NFL Draft. Oh, and Miami also traded for star cornerback Jalen Ramsey. This only has fans even more excited for the defense to ball out in 2023.

Not only that, but NFL betting as a whole is expected to be massive in Florida when things are legal. Right now, a lot of fans in Florida are also focused on the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, Buffalo Bills, Kansas City Chiefs, Philadelphia Eagles and more. The Chiefs hold the No. 1 Super Bowl betting odds and they’re hoping to repeat as the champs. However, the Dolphins, Eagles and others will be ready to prevent that from happening.

With Miami in particular, the Dolphins’ season feels like it’s going to come down to the health of star quarterback Tua Tagovailoa. Tagovailoa has dealt with plenty of injuries in his young career, with concussions being a real problem for him. However, he’s back to 100 percent right now and people are excited to see what he and the rest of the offense will be able to accomplish this campaign.

Everything lies on the appeals court and its decision for Florida

Looking at things as a whole, everything lies on the appeals court and its decision for Florida. As we mentioned above, no final call has been made here yet, which is only adding to the anxiety for DeSantis and The Seminole Tribe. Not only that, but sports fans would love to be able to bet on the MLB season right now too.

The MLB campaign is at the heart of things, especially with the All-Star break right around the corner. With the Tampa Bay Rays playing so well too, the club’s supporters remain frustrated that they’re not able to place legal wagers on the AL powerhouse. Tampa Bay has strong MLB betting odds and things are only going to get better for them during the second half of the season.

Right now, everyone is sitting on pins and needles in hopes that the appeals court ends up siding with Florida. If that doesn’t happen, then we might have to wait until 2025 for sports betting to arrive. No one wants to see that happen, which only makes the decision from the courts that much more important. Hopefully we have an answer here within the coming weeks, or by August at the latest.
