When it comes to changes for Florida sports betting, no one seems to know exactly what will be going on in the future. Some people think things could be delayed until 2024, while others have 2025 in mind. Seriously? That would be a total nightmare. With that said, the news has come in of the Seminole Tribe is hoping the decision gets reversed in Florida sports betting case and that would be nothing short of massive.
According to a report, briefs have been filed in a federal court and there’s optimism that things could in fact be reversed. Remember, late last year a U.S. District Judge ruled against Florida in the tribe and ordered their pact to be shut down immediately. This came with the Hard Rock Cafe launching online sports betting for a brief amount of time. However, things didn’t last long.
Ever since then, people have been hoping that a miracle would arrive and the decision would be flipped. There’s been a waiting game for months and no final decision has been reached. However, this new update states that more briefs are expected and oral presentations will be coming within the next few months as well. Because of this, a final call should be coming early next year towards the start of 2023.
Right now, the hope from millions is that sports betting in Florida will be made legal. Things are slowly but surely trending in that direction, but it will all come down to what’s decided in the federal court. If the decision isn’t reversed, then it will be back to the drawing board for the state. Unfortunately for the Seminole Tribe, if things stay as they are, then they could be out all together for the future of betting. That’d be terrible.

One of the main points of discussion here is that Florida keeps arguing that sports betting keeps growing across the country – and the world. In the USA in particular, more than 30 states have legalized sports betting and that number is only going to keep growing. With the rapid rate that things are increasing, it’d be a surprise if we don’t reach 40 states with legal sports betting within the next year or two.

With all of the latest news coming in, people are wondering will Florida sports betting arrive in 2023? That’s the question that people will keep asking over the next few months continuously, too. Everyone is going to have to wait and see what goes down at the federal level. The U.S. District Judge has stood firm with her decision to ban sports betting in the state, with the plaintiffs in this case continuing to not budge either. That’s not going to be changing.
At the end of the day, the Magic City Casino owners know how detrimental things will be for their businesses if the tribes take control of sports betting. The people at the MGC want sports betting to arrive, but for things to be evenly spread out. That’s why they’re claiming that the 30-year pact between Florida and The Seminole Tribe is not only unfair, but it’s illegal at the same time as well.
The Seminole Tribe and Florida are pushing hard against all of this, which is why they’re hoping the federal government will help side in their favor. We’re hoping that we can have our answer on things sooner than later. From our chair, Florida and The Seminole Tribe are in the right and sports betting should come by 2023. It’s unknown if federal officials will agree with that statement or not.
