2024 WNBA Opening Night Bets – Hello Las Vegas

Alright, the 2024 WNBA Opening Night Bets say hello Las Vegas. The Las Vegas Aces open their campaign with a banner raising as they welcome the Phoenix Mercury into town. For those who do not know the Aces are repeat WNBA champions. The Aces easily disposed of the New York Liberty in last year’s final series. Most pundits expect Las Vegas to be battling for a third straight title when all is said and done in 2024.

However, they do go up against a Phoenix Mercury team with Diana Taurasi and Britney Grenier. Some ask what both may have left in the tank but they did combine for 33.5 points per game. Taurasi’s shooting has regressed (shot 40.3% in 2023) but the Mercury have nowhere to go but up after a 9-31 campaign.

The Aces know that the Mercury will not be pushovers like they were last year. Now, Phoenix had very little depth and it does remain an issue. However, Phoenix made some late season strides even if their record did not indicate it. Las Vegas opened as a 13.5-point favorite and have stayed steady in the lead up to Tuesday night.

Las Vegas with the spread Bovada tosses in at -110 is our best bet. With the moneyline hovering around -1200, that is out. A few more props may open but Vegas to be leading by three or more points is already at -200. That number could drift to -225 or -250 as 10:00 pm ET draws nearer. One may be able to steal a few prop opportunities on Tuesday too.

More WNBA Opening Night Bets – Next Up The Liberty?

So, next up are the New York Liberty. 2023 was such a great ride for New York from a regular season and playoff perspective. They made it to that last step before getting knocked off by the Aces. Sabrina Ionescu remains an even more motivated force as the Liberty want to improve on their 32-win season. However, the 2024 WNBA Opening Night Bets wonder if the Liberty can handle the weight of increased expectations.

Now, New York rolls in as the class of the East and face a Washington Mystics team which struggled around .500. Again, the Liberty present themselves as a predominant favorite to make the championship round again. Even on the road, the Liberty are expected to win by double digits on opening night. Washington will not be easy at home. Can the Mystics slow down a Liberty squad that averaged 90.6 points over the final 20 games of 2023?

New York has slid back on the moneyline and now the spread has moved to 12. Our advice is this. The game was at -13 to open. There may be a few better options to consider. For one, the first quarter adrenaline rush may be something to consider for New York. The Liberty are a mere -180 to lead by three or more points after the opening quarter.

Again, rule changes figure to help New York. Their offensive roster caters to some of the tweaked rules that have come about for 2024. It should be intriguing to see how they perform coming out of the gate. The expectation is for them to fire on all cylinders early on Tuesday night.

Hey, Do We Have Any More Bets?

Okay, 2024 WNBA Opening Night Bets ask do we have any more bets? 2024 expects to open with a bang as Las Vegas has planned quite a banner raising celebration. Sadly, there are no props on how much pyrotechnics will be needed on Tuesday night.

However, we kind of like the Under at 170.5 points here (-110). There is the idea that Las Vegas could be a little rusty and Phoenix  averaged a league-worst 76.6 points per game. Expecting a lot in the way of improvement is a stretch. The Aces project to win comfortably but some might be surprised at the notion they play defense. Las Vegas can clamp down when they have to. Just ask the New York Liberty about that swarming intensity when crunch time hit in their series.

Again, keep an eye where the Team Over/Unders are for both squads. The Under here could be worthwhile especially on the Aces. There is a possibility their number is greater than 90. Either way, a little rust is understandable given the pomp and circumstance.

Finally, the early plan is to take it easy and get lay of the land. After all, Thursday night and Caitlin Clark’s opener will be here before anyone knows it.
