Michael van Gerwen favored for back-to-back wins at Night 3 of Premier League Darts

Night 3 of the 2024 Premier League Darts season comes from Glasgow on Thursday. Michael van Gerwen won Night 2 in Berlin last week and is the +250 betting favorite to win again in Scotland. In our latest darts betting picks, we tell you if he is a good bet to go back-to-back.

  • What; 2024 Premier League Darts Night 3
  • When; Thursday, February 15th
  • Where; OVO Hydro, Glasgow, Scotland
  • Time; 2.10 pm ET
  • Favorite; Michael van Gerwen +250

Any regular readers of our darts betting picks will know that we picked MVG to win Night 2 last week. The Dutch darting superstar had been showing signs of coming back to his best on a more consistent basis in recent weeks. And at +400, he made for a great winner-betting pick last Thursday.

MVG’s victory has seen him made joint favorite to win the 2024 Premier League outright. Along with Luke Littler, van Gerwen is also +200. Luke Humphries is third in the betting at +350.

One thing to bear in mind when betting on the overall winner is that the Premier League is a hard slog. The in-form player now won’t necessarily be the in-form player on finals night at the end of May.

Betting to win Night 3 of the Darts Premier League

Onto the betting to win Night 3, and last week, it was Luke Littler who went off as the betting favorite at +375. MVG and Luke Humphries were both +400. This week, MVG is +250 to win the night, with Littler and Humphries joint-second in the betting at +350.

The top US sportsbooks have recognized the form of MVG. It also won’t be lost on them that MVG has the underperforming Peter Wright in his quarter-final.

Michael Smith and Gerwyn Price are both at +700. Seven days ago, Price was +450, and Smith was +600. Rob Cross is down at +900, having been +700 in Germany. At the rear end of the betting again is Nathan Aspinall at +2200 and Peter Wright at +4000.

Night 3 Quarter-Final Line Up

  1. Rob Cross (+100) vs. Michael Smith (-120)
  2. Michael van Gerwen (-776) vs. Peter Wright (+556)
  3. Luke Humphries (-275) vs. Nathan Aspinall (+235)
  4. Luke Littler (-165) vs. Gerwyn Price (+140)

The quarter-final lineup is already locked in for Night 3. Getting the action underway is Rob Cross against Michael Smith. The winner of that will face the winner of MVG and the out-of-sorts Peter Wright.

In the bottom half of the draw, Luke Humphries takes on Nathan Aspinall. And in the fourth quarter-final matchup, Luke Littler faces Gerwyn Price.

Premier League Darts: Night 3 Betting Picks

For our Night 3 betting picks, we have picked out a couple of quarter-final bets and will also name a winner of the night betting pick.

We are starting with Michael Smith, who has shown good form in this year’s Premier League. Smith won Night 1, and then he defeated Gerwyn Price in the quarter-final of Night 2 before losing a last-leg decider against MVG in his semi-final.

Last week, Smith averaged 101.35 in beating Price and 98.17 in the defeat to van Gerwen. He’s looking consistent again.

Averages of over 100 are regularly needed to win nights, and Smith isn’t far away. He’s -120 to beat Rob Cross on the money line and +130 to beat Cross and cover a 1.5-leg spread. We feel Smith has a 6-4 or better win in him and make that our opening pick.

Littler set to have too much for unhappy Price

We also like the look of Luke Littler to beat Gerwyn Price by a similar scoreline. On the money line, Littler is -170. Giving away a 1.5-leg start, a win for Littler is -115.

In the opening week, it took an inspired Michael Smith to beat Littler by one leg in the semi-final. Then, on Night 2, Littler only lost the final by a deciding leg to van Gerwen.

Earlier this week, Littler won a PDC Players Championship event, also hitting a nine-darter on his way to his first title in what is a bread-and-butter PDC competition. At the same event, Price walked out and quit midway through a match, stating pathetic conditions (in the venue) as his reason.

Price doesn’t seem happy at the moment in general. Littler is on fire. So we’re going with Littler to beat Price and cover the spread.

Our Pick to win Premier League Darts Night 3

Onto our Night winner pick, and we have to stick with MVG. He seems to have responded to the challenge of Littler’s emergence and has looked more like his old self in recent weeks.

How long he can keep this going is another matter. MVG has lacked consistency in recent years, and it remains to be seen if he can start to dominate the PDC again in a fashion similar to the previous. But at the moment, Michael van Gerwen is firing on all cylinders, and we make him our betting pick to win Night 3 of the Premier League.
