UConn the early favorite to win 2025 NCAA Basketball Championship

Fresh from their second championship win in two years, the best NCAAB betting sites have installed the UConn Huskies as their betting favorites to win the championship again in 2025. In the latest NCAA Basketball futures, the Huskies are +1000 for the three-peat. We look ahead at their chances of completing the treble.

  • The UConn Huskies won the NCAA Basketball Championship match in 2023 and 2024
  • Dan Hurley’s team clinched the 2024 Championship with a 75-60 win over the Purdue Boilermakers
  • In the 2024/25 season, the Huskies are the betting favorite to win again

The UConn Huskies confirmed their status as the outstanding team in men’s college basketball with a comprehensive 75-60 win over the Purdue Boilermakers in the 2024 Championship match.

The win saw the Huskies finish the season with a school record of 37-3, but that doesn’t tell the whole story.

As well as winning the championship match for the second successive year and the sixth time in their history, the school also won the Big East regular-season title, the Big East Tournament, and, for the first time in their history, UConn entered the NCAA Tournament as a No.1 seed.

Under the leadership of Dan Hurley, the Huskies have now become the team to beat. And Hurley’s achievements didn’t go unnoticed, as he picked up the Naismith College Coach of the Year award for the first time in his career.

Repeating this won’t be easy. But the overriding message that came out of the 2023/24 season was that the Huskies are head and shoulders above the rest of the schools. So stopping them from achieving the three-peat will be difficult.

Betting to win the 2024/25 NCAA Men’s Basketball Championship

It may be possible to close the gap on Hurley’s team. But that might not be enough to prevent them from winning the championship again.

Okay, a college basketball season is a long one, and before we even get started, a lot can change before the first tip-off of the new season takes place this fall.

Nevertheless, the UConn Huskies look that far ahead of their rivals, it was inevitable that they were going to be slated as the betting favorites to win again in 2025. The Huskies are +800 with BetOnline to make it three wins in a row.

Elsewhere, BetUS has the Huskies at a far more appealing +1000, which puts them at the same price as Kansas. The Jayhawks are also +1000 with BetOnline.

The Jayhawks started the 2023/24 season as one of the favorites but again fell short. Bill Self’s No.4 seeds went out at the second round stage, losing 89-68 to No.5 ranked Gonzago.

Similar to last season, the top of the betting has a lot of the same schools as it did 12 months ago. Duke is the third favorite at +1100 and Alabama is +1200. Also in the mix are Houston (+1400), Gonzaga (+1800), North Carolina (+2000), and Baylor (+2500).

Beaten finalists in the 2024 Championship match, the Purdue Boilermakers, are down at +3300. The Boilermakers are going to lose the college player of the year, Zach Edey, who is set to join the NBA.

Edey scored 177 points for Purdue last year and is going to be a huge miss in the 2024/25 season.

2024/25 College Basketball Predictions

It seems a long way away at the moment, but we all know that it will be here in the blink of an eye.

The 2024/25 NCAA Men’s Basketball season starts in Fall. The post-season competition begins on March 18th, 2025. The championship match takes place at the Alamodome in San Antonio on April 7th, 2025.

We already know that the Purdue Boilermakers have a lot of ground to make up if they are to make the final again next year, so who is likely to be the Huskies’ biggest rivals in 2025?

With five-star recruit Cooper Flagg on their roster, Duke is expected to be one of the teams challenging next season.

Alabama also has to be taken as a serious threat in the new season. The Crimson Tide reached the Final Four for the first time in their history in 2024, and they are likely to retain the majority of their roster for the 2024/25 season.

Alabama is an improving team and is only going to be better and wiser for their recent experience.

There are also coaches on the move ahead of the new season, and as that merry-go-round continues, this will leave the odds up in the air for the foreseeable future.

One of the latest switches has seen John Calipari leave Kentucky and head to Arkansas. And with more changes set to come, a wait-and-see approach might be the best way to go for the time being.

As things stand, it’s hard to see beyond another win for the UConn Huskies. But don’t forget, they traded at prices like +1400 to win the championship last year.

In short, if you like the look of the Huskies to three-peat, they are good value at +1000. But if you bide your time, you may get better odds when the season is up and running. Duke may also be worth a wager as well.
