Best OVER Bets
Boston Bruins (OVER 95.5). Every Eastern Conference club who made the postseason in 2021-22 topped the 100-point mark so if you’re betting the UNDER, you expect the B’s to miss the playoffs for the first time in seven seasons. While the early-season absences of Brad Marchand and Charlie McAvoy are concerning, this is a veteran club that’s strong down the middle with Patrice Bergeron, David Krejci and Charlie Coyle.
With a new voice behind the bench in Jim Montgomery, we expect the Bruins to exceed their 95.5 point total and sneak into a Wild Card spot.

Columbus Blue Jackets (OVER 80.5). Brad Larsen’s club finished with 81 points last year, and in the offseason, they signed Johnny Gaudreau. After notching career-highs in goals (40) and points (115), “Johnny Hockey” will form a terrifying duo with Patrik Laine, who has 176 goals through six NHL seasons.
Los Angeles Kings (OVER 95.5). Coming off their first playoff berth in four seasons, LA should only get better after the addition of 33-goal-scorer Kevin Fiala. This is an improving hockey team with young forwards like Adrian Kempe, Arthur Kaliyev, Rasmus Kupari and Quinton Byfield who should only get better.
Pick the UNDER
Seattle Kraken (UNDER 81.5). After the Vegas Golden Knights made expansion look easy with an immediate Stanley Cup Finals berth and four-straight playoff appearances, Ron Francis showed how hard it really is. The Kraken only registered 60 points in 2021-22 and it’s hard to see where all the extra wins will come from next season.
Chicago Blackhawks (UNDER 65.5). General manager Kyle Davidson is in full teardown mode, dumping former No. 3 overall pick Kirby Dach and All-Star winger Alex DeBrincat over the summer. In hot pursuit of expected 2023 No. 1 overall pick Connor Bedard, Chicago will be the worst team in the NHL this year.

New Jersey Devils (UNDER 88.5). Every year, David Puddy’s favorite team picks in the top five only to miss the playoffs the next season. With only one postseason berth in the past decade and four straight campaigns under 72 points, there’s no way New Jersey will even sniff 89 points in 2022-23.
St. Louis Blues (OVER 95.5). Craig Berube’s club finished with 109 points last year, and their division mates in Minnesota and Dallas look destined to take a step back.
Toronto Maple Leafs (OVER 107.5). The regular season has never been the problem for the Buds. With the Florida Panthers set to decline, Auston Matthews and company could finish first in the conference if their goaltending holds up.
