Penguins vs Rangers
Sidney Crosby left Wednesday’s game in the second period after receiving a high hit from defenseman Jacob Trouba. New York promptly went on to score three unanswered goals in quick succession, winning the game 5-3 and prolonging the series. The Penguins captain will likely miss Game 6, considering his long concussion history.
That would make life considerably easier for Hart Trophy candidate Igor Shesterkin, who was pulled twice in two games in Pittsburgh after allowing 10 goals on 48 shots. While Jake Guentzel has scored in five straight games, the Pens will have trouble closing out the series without their two-time Conn Smythe Trophy winner.
Final score prediction: Rangers 3, Penguins 2

Capitals vs Panthers
Just over two minutes away from being in a 3-1 series hole to the eighth-seeded Capitals, Florida rallied for a Game 4 win on Monday. The President Trophy winners then erased a 3-0 deficit in Game 5 thanks to Carter Verhaeghe’s five-point night. Now heading back to the nation’s capitol, the “Comeback Cats” can secure their first playoff series victory since 1996 when they went all the way to the Stanley Cup Finals.
Alex Ovechkin, T.J. Oshie and company have the necessary grit and postseason experience to crawl back into the series on Friday night. However, Tom Wilson’s absence looms large.
Final score prediction: Panthers 4, Capitals 3 OT

Stars vs Flames
If you’ve been hammering the under on this series, congratulations on your newfound wealth. Following the Flames’ 3-1 home win in Game 5, only one of the games has exceeded 5.5 goals. Both Jacob Markstrom and Jake Oettinger have been outstanding and there’s no reason to think that will change in the American Airlines Center on Friday night.
Despite the tight-checking, low-scoring battle, Johnny Gaudreau has managed to maintain a point-per-game pace (1G, 4A) to this point. If the Stars can’t find a way to shut him down on home ice, their season will be over.
Final score prediction: Flames 3, Stars 1
