NHL Betting – Detroit Red Wings at Anaheim Ducks

Detroit Red Wings (+120) at Anaheim Ducks (-130, 5.5 o/u)

The Detroit Red Wings (34-14-10, 76 pts) continue their six-game Western Conference road trip tonight when they face the Pacific Division-leaders, the Anaheim Ducks (37-16-7, 81 pts), at the Honda Center (10:00 p.m. Eastern).

Currently on a two-game win streak, Anaheim is second overall in the West, six points back of Nashville. On Saturday, the Ducks downed the lowly Oilers 2-1. Prior to their current win-streak, Anaheim had dropped five of six and was seeing its lead atop the Pacific Division dwindle.

“During that two-week stretch, we did far too many hope passes into the front of the net,” said Ducks defenseman Ben Lovejoy of the recent rough patch. “Our forwards have done a great job the last two nights and it has really changed the complexion of our team right now. I don’t think we can be complacent. I think that is sort of what got us into that two-week stretch. We need to continue to get better.”

Detroit also comes into tonight’s game after a narrow one-goal victory, but Detroit’s was decidedly more high-scoring. Last night, the Wings downed Dallas 7-6 in overtime, scoring four third period goals. Defenseman Niklas Kronwall gave Detroit the win 36 seconds into the extra frame.

“We didn’t do many good things out there. We’ve got to be a lot better than that,” Kronwall said after the veritable shootout. “But we got lucky.”

Detroit also downed Chicago (3-2) in the first game of their Western swing and currently sit fifth in the Eastern Conference. But the Wings have games in hand on most teams and will see their stock rise if they continue to put up wins away from home.

Head-to-head, Anaheim has won the last three in a row against Detroit; the last two of those have stayed under the total.
