The first UFC pay-per-view of 2022 takes place on January 22, 2022 at Honda Center in Anaheim, California. At the top of the ESPN+ streaming PPV card are two title fights. In the main event, undisputed UFC heavyweight champion Francis Ngannou faces interim titleholder Ciryl Gane. While in the co-main event, UFC flyweight champion Brandon Moreno meets ex-champion Deiveson Figueiredo in a trilogy fight. The first meeting between the 125-pound fighters ended in a draw. Moreno took the belt from Figueiredo in the rematch.

Ngannou vs. Gane prediction and pick:
This is a very interesting fight. Francis Ngannou and Ciryl Gane are former training partners and both look like they could be long reigning UFC titleholders. Ngannou is, without a doubt, the most powerful striker in the heavyweight division. Gane looks to be the most technically proficient mixed martial artist in the weight class, and that’s what makes this fight so intriguing.
I believe Gane’s skills will carry this fight. Gane can control range and pace. Gane is also a fighter who can be extremely frustrating because his overall goal is not to entertain, but to win, which means he is patient and content to keep chipping away at his opponent from distance. That patience will lead to a fighter, like Ngannou, who relies on his power, to overextend himself and provide an opening for Gane to land and rack up points.
I think this fight will be a very frustrating one for the undisputed champ and fans who want to see a big Ngannou knockout, but I see Gane winning a slow-paced decision in this matchup.
Pick: Gane via decision

Moreno to Win | -171 | -175 | -175 | -175 |
Figueiredo to Win | +146 | +145 | +145 | +145 |
Moreno vs. Figueiredo prediction and pick:
Brandon Moreno will have all the confidence in the world heading into his trilogy fight against Deiveson Figueiredo and I think that will make the difference in this matchup, that and that fact that Moreno is still, at 28, a fighter who is improving his skill set.
The 34-year-old Figueiredo is an incredibly talented fighter, but at 34, the book is written on him. He is powerful on the feet and more than competent on the ground. He is a fighter who can beat almost anyone in the flyweight division, but I think Moreno has his number.
The thing that I believe will be different in this fight is Moreno’s striking. He has been working on that aspect of his game heading into this bout and I believe he’ll give Figueiredo all he can handle on the feet and that will lead to him breaking down the former champ for another submission win.
Pick: Moreno via submission
