NOTRE DAME A SEMIFINAL LOCK
While Notre Dame (+900) enjoyed a week off, their odds of making the CFP semifinals increased dramatically with Florida’s 37-34 home-defeat to an LSU team that entered the game as 23-point underdogs. Now with two losses this season, the Gators (+8000) won’t make the tournament even if they manage to upset Alabama (-150) in the SEC championship game on Saturday night.
Undefeated on the year, the Fighting Irish can lose the ACC championship game against Clemson (+260) this weekend and still make the playoffs. But it’s a must-win for the Tigers who suffered a 47-40 double-overtime loss to the Irish last month when Trevor Lawrence missed the game after testing positive for COVID-19.
The Big Ten has announced that it has removed the minimum six-game requirement to be eligible for the conference’s title game.

Expect Dabo Swinney’s club to end Notre Dame’s 16-game winning streak and make their sixth straight College Football Playoff appearance. However, should they lose, Texas A&M (+4000) could sneak into the No. 4 spot.
Ohio State (+450) will play Northwestern (+10000) in the Big Ten championship game on Saturday after the conference’s administrative council decided to eliminate its six-game minimum requirement. In all likelihood, the 5-0 Buckeyes will finish with the No. 3 seed and face No. 2 Clemson in a semifinal rematch while No. 1 Alabama will be matched up with No. 4 Notre Dame.

MAC JONES HEADED FOR HEISMAN
While Alabama’s Mac Jones (-300) put up only 208 yards and no touchdowns in a 52-3 destruction of Arkansas, he still pulled ahead in the Heisman race thanks to Florida’s surprise-loss to LSU. In a dead heat for the award just last week, Kyle Trask (+800) threw for 474 yards, 2 touchdowns, and 2 interceptions that will ultimately cost him the bronze bust.
Trask could win back voters if he outduels Jones in Saturday’s SEC championship game, but the award now seems destined to go to the Crimson Tide signal-caller after he led Alabama to a 10-0 record while operating the best offense (49.5 points and 537.8 yards per game) in college football.

Jones’ teammate Devonta Smith (+200) now has the second-best odds to win the trophy, but keep in mind that a receiver hasn’t won the Heisman since 1991. Rather than throw money away on Smith, who was held to a season-low three catches for 22 yards on Saturday, consider making a longshot bet on Trevor Lawrence (+2200).
What if the soon-to-be No. 1 overall pick in the 2021 NFL Draft lights up Notre Dame on Saturday afternoon in front of a nationally-televised audience and rather than punish Lawrence for being sidelined with the virus, voters decide to award him for a remarkable college football career?
