The game of the week in NCAA football features two unbeaten teams, as the Notre Dame Fighting Irish clash with the Florida State Seminoles (Saturday, 8 p.m. Eastern, at Doak Campbell Stadium in Tallahassee).

Florida State, the defending national champions, are 6-0 overall and 3-0 at home. The odds opened with FSU as double-digit favorites. But several bookmakers have taken the game off the board due to questions over Jameis Winston’s status. There are allegations that last year’s Heisman Trophy winner accepted money in exchange for autographs, a violation of NCAA rules.

The latest indications, however, are that Winston will be in the lineup.

“I talked to him and I know people have talked to the owners of the company and different people, and from what I understand, we’ll see, but I’m not concerned,” head coach Jimbo Fisher said.

The Seminoles are coming off of a 38-20 win over Syracuse 38-20 last week. Winston torched the Orange, completing 30 of his 36 passes for 317 yards and 3 TDs.

Notre Dame is 6-0 but have only played one game away from home – coincidentally, a 31-17 victory over Syracuse.  The Irish looked vulnerable last weekend, squeaking past a bad North Carolina team 50-43 and failing to cover as 16.5 point favorites.

Brian Kelly’s team averages 34.5 points per game, 40th in the nation, and has the 8th best defense, allowing just 17.2 points per game.

Despite their undefeated status, FSU has not been a good bet this season; they are 1-5 ATS. The Irish, on the otherhand, are 4-2 against the number counting their lackluster effort against the Tar Heels.

The oddsmakers (those who still have the game listed, that is) have FSU as 11.5 point favorites.
