The NCAA Basketball season is creeping ever closer, and in just a few weeks, the road to March Madness starts all over again. In the 2022/23 season, the Atlantic Coast Conference was one of the tightest in the NCAA. This year we’re anticipating another close battle. And here we look ahead to the season in our latest NCAAB betting picks.

The early odds from the best college basketball betting sites suggest Miami is better suited to a challenge in the upcoming season. But with a month to go until the action starts, the odds could yet change again.

Who is the favorite to win the NCAA Basketball National Championship?
There has been limited movement at the top of the betting to win the 2024 NCAA National Championship. The current favorites are the Kansas Jayhawks at +900. Kansas has been the favorite throughout the offseason. They were +1000 at the start of June, so their odds have remained stable over the past few months.
Purdue and Kentucky are next in the betting. Purdue is +1000. The Boilermakers have been at this price pretty much for the whole offseason. Kentucky was +2000 with some firms a few months ago. They were quickly slashed into +1400. But in recent weeks, Kentucky’s odds have stabilized at around +1000 to +1200, depending on which bookmaker you use.
Next up is Duke at +1200. Duke is also the favorite to win the ACC. In last year’s competition, they failed to make a mark, going out in the second round in the postseason, losing 65-52 to Tennessee. They will expect to improve on that showing this season.

Finally, the defending champions, the UConn Huskies, are +1600 to win back-to-back National Championships. UConn is joined on +1600 by Michigan State.
Betting to win the ACC
Duke (+170) is leading the betting to win the Atlantic Coast Conference in the 2023/24 NCAA Basketball regular season. The latest college basketball odds have Miami Florida as their closest betting rivals at +300. These two are expected to contest the table, but the chasing pack is not too far behind.
North Carolina (+550) and Virginia (+650) are likely to be their main competitors. They are the closest two teams in terms of the latest odds, with Clemson (+1200) and Pittsburgh (+1400) making up the leading six teams.
All five teams within one win of each other at the top of the conference last year are among the six favorites. North Carolina is the only team that finished outside the top five. They finished sixth, but they had a disappointing 12-8 record, which was short of Duke, Clemson, and Pittsburgh on 14-6, and Miami and Virginia, who were 15-5.

Duke look set to challenge
Duke is trying to recruit the amazing talent that is Patrick Ngongba II. They already landed one of their pledges, Darren Harris, and if they can also get Ngongba, that will be some off-season.
Duke’s main rival for Ngongba could be the Wildcats, and with it rumored that some Wildcats’ staff members already have a relationship with Ngongba’s family, it could be that the Blue Devils miss out on this target.
If they manage to get Ngongba, their odds will likely shorten. But his arrival could already be factored into that price. So if you are thinking of backing Duke, it might be best to just wait and see what happens.
With or without Ngongba, the Blue Devils will have to stave off the threat from Virginia. The Cavaliers have either singly or jointly won the conference for the last seven years. They know how to win the conference. But at the same time, the Blue Devils look set to challenge the Cavaliers’ recent dominance.
When it comes down to it, the college basketball season is long. This will result in peaks and troughs in form that will be reflected in the odds. As just said, Virginia has topped the table in one way or another for the past seven years. They are good odds to do it again at +650.
We feel +650 is good odds to lock them in as it gives us the option to hedge our bets across the season. If Duke then starts slowly, we could be able to cover them at longer odds and have two chances of winning.
