UConn set to cover when they take on the Blue Demons at the Wintrust Arena

DePaul hosts the UConn Huskies in the Big East on Wednesday. This looks like a mismatch on paper, with the worst team in the Conference taking on the best team in the country. It’s not a question of whether UConn can win, more a question of how many they will win by. So, in our latest NCAAB betting picks, we tell you if the Huskies will cover the spread.

  • What; 2023/24 NCAA Men’s Basketball
  • Who; DePaul Blue Demons vs. UConn Huskies
  • Where; Wintrust Arena, Chicago, Illinois
  • When; Wednesday, February 14th 2024
  • Tip-Off; 9 pm ET

DePaul is having a season to forget. They are 0-12 in the Big East and on a losing streak of 11. When you are down on your luck and have been knocked over that often, you have forgotten how to get up again, the last thing you need is a visit from the defending champions and favorites to win the National Championship again in 2024.

Well, maybe it could have been worse. DePaul might have been away to UConn. But thankfully, Matt Brady and his team got that road trip out of the way at the start of 2024. The Huskies won 85-56. And that was the start of the Blue Demons’ losing run, that they are still on now.

Latest betting to win the Big East regular season

The Huskies are clear at the top of the table with a 12-1 Conference record. Only No.4 ranked Marquette (10-3) has a realistic chance of catching them. And the two colleges meet on Saturday at the XL Center in what promises to be a real Conference showdown.

At the time of writing, UConn is -2000 to win the Conference in the regular season. Marquette is second at odds of +650. Creighton and Seton Hall are both listed at +10000. But both are 8-5 in the Conference and already look out of the picture.

Betting to win the Men’s 2024 NCAA Basketball Championship

The UConn Huskies have been the favorites to win the 2024 Championship for the past couple of weeks. The best college basketball betting sites have UConn at +600, with the Purdue Boilermakers at +700.

Behind the top two is Houston at +800. Then comes Arizona and Tennessee at +1200. North Carolina is +1600, with Kansas, Alabama and Auburn all at +1800. Marquette and Iowa State are both still hanging in there at +2800.

After becoming a very fluid market recently, the odds seem to have settled down again in recent days.

DePaul Blue Demons vs. UConn Huskies: Latest Form

We already know that the Blue Demons have a Conference record of 0-12. Overall, they are 3-20, with a 3-11 home record and a 0-7 record on the road.

The three wins all came in 2023. In reverse order, they were against Chicago State (70-58), Louisville (75-68), and South Dakota (72-60).

The recent losing streak of 11 has seen some close results. But it has also had its fair share of shockers. A couple of standout defeats were the 100-62 home loss to Creighton and the 72-39 home defeat to Seton Hall. The Blue Demons can take some heart from only losing to Marquette by 13 points in late January.

The Huskies are on a roll at the moment. They are on a winning streak of 12, and in the Big East, have a Conference record of 12-1. At home, they are 13-0. On the road, 5-2, giving the defending champions an overall record of 22-2 this season.

Recent wins have been convincing. Last weekend, they won 89-64 at Georgetown. That win followed a 71-62 home win over Butler and a 77-64 road trip win over St John’s.

DePaul Blue Demons vs. UConn Huskies Betting Picks

Will the Huskies have one eye on Saturday’s showdown with Marquette? That’s the only crumb of comfort that the Blue Demons can cling to. And when you see that a road trip to Creighton follows three days later, you can see the possibility of Dan Hurley’s team starting to look a bit further forward than they should be.

But DePaul is on an awful run. Confidence must be at rock bottom. The gap between the two sides when they last met was 29 points. While in their two most recent home matches, DePaul has lost by 25 to Xavier and 33 to Seton Hall.

We would expect the Blue Devils to be motivated for this fixture. But once the Huskies get on top, we expect it to be a rout. We are backing the Huskies to cover for our betting pick.
