College Basketball Betting – Miami (FL) at (4) Duke

Miami Hurricanes at (4) Duke Blue Devils (-15)

After losing their first game of the year to NC State, the Duke Blue Devils (14-1 SU, 8-7 ATS) will try to bounce back tonight when they host the Miami Hurricanes (11-4 SU, 6-7 ATS) at Cameron Indoor Stadium in Durham (9:00 p.m. Eastern).

The Wolfpack trumped the Blue Devils 87-75 in Raleigh on Sunday. Duke’s 75-point output was eight shy of its season average, while the 87 points against was 13 more than the team has given up all season.

After the lackluster performance on both ends of the floor, Miami is expecting to face a hungry Duke squad tonight.

“I don’t know the last time they have ever lost two conference games during the regular season, back-to-back, I am sure it has been a while,” Miami coach Jim Larranaga said. (For the record, it was in 2009.)

In order to avoid a second straight loss, Duke will have to contain Hurricane newcomers Angel Rodriguez and Sheldon McClellan, who combined for 28 points in a 60-58 win over Boston College on the weekend.

“They’re extremely well-coached, they’ll actually end up being a veteran team because of the transfer they’ve had come in,” Duke head coach Mike Krzyzewski said. “Rodriguez is just a terrific player and competitor and McClellan, you have two ready-made stars for your team.”

Miami narrowly missed handing Virginia its first loss of the season early in January, taking the Cavaliers to double-overtime. However, the team has been dreadfully inconsistent in its last handful of games, losing to both Green Bay and Eastern Kentucky.

The odds have the Blue Devils as 15-point favorites. Looking at the trends, Miami is 1-8 SU in its last nine games on the road against Duke, but 5-0 ATS in the last five of those.
