The MWC West Division has a clear favorite, but a few teams might be able to pull a surprise and make some good cash in the process.
Fresno State has all the college football odds favoring them. Quarterback Derek Carr is one of the most exciting players in the NCAA, and on his senior year he should be even more impressive. He won the 2012 Mountain West Offensive Player of the Year and recorded 4,104 passing yards with a tremendous 37-to-7 TD-to-interception ratio.
San Diego State has appeared in three consecutive bowl games for the first time in its history, and they are slowly getting recognition, but they are far away from being a team that can fight a long run against the Bulldogs for the division. Perhaps in a few years they might be the second program around, but not in 2013.
San Jose State will have First-year coach Ron Caragher in charge, but he’s going to trust senior David Fales as his quarterback. Foles completed 72.5 percent of his passes last season (best in all FBS) and threw for 4193 yards and 33 touchdowns.
Spartans are coming off an 11-2 season, and despite they won’t have 1,000-yard rusher De’Leon Eskridge this year, having Fales should be more than enough to have a great season.
