Hooker for the Heisman?

Hendon Hooker is a -150 Heisman favorite after throwing for three touchdowns and rushing for another in a 44-6 victory over Kentucky on Saturday. The 24-year-old has passed for 2,338 yards and 21 TDs in 2022, with 338 rushing yards and four scores.

Hooker has led his squad to 40+ point efforts in the past four contests. Tennessee is now No. 1 in the nation in scoring (49.4 points) and total offense (553 yards). But Georgia’s defense ranks No. 2 in the country, permitting just 10.5 points per game.

Georgia’s defense

Kirby Smart’s defense has struggled to get to the quarterback this season, ranking last in the SEC in sacks going into Saturday’s game against the Gators. However, the Dawgs were all over Florida’s Anthony Richardson in their 42-20 win, sacking him three times with eight tackles for loss.

Defensive tackle Jalen Carter, a potential top-5 pick in the 2023 NFL draft, made his return from a knee injury last weekend. But it looks like Nolan Smith will miss Week 10 with a shoulder ailment. The outside linebacker paces Georgia with sacks (3), tackles for loss (7), and quarterback hurries (16).

Bulldogs vs. Volunteers

Tennessee is an 8.5-point road underdog in Athens this Saturday, and oddsmakers expect a lot of points, setting the over/under at 66.

The Volunteers already have victories against Florida and Alabama this season, putting up 52 points against the Crimson Tide in mid-October. In total, they have four victories over schools ranked in the AP Top 25. Compared to the nation’s five other undefeated teams, the Vols have faced the toughest schedule by far.

Georgia hasn’t faced a quality opponent since their 49-3 murder of Oregon on opening weekend. Quarterback Stetson Bennett threw for 313 yards and two TDs in the win over Florida but turned the ball over twice. He’ll have to be more careful against a Tennessee defense that picked off projected first-rounder Will Levis three times.

Look for the Bulldogs to ride they’re running back tandem of Daijun Edwards and Kenny McIntosh after the pair tallied 239 rushing yards and four scores on Saturday.

Best Bet

The defending champions are talent-loaded and battle-tested. But this is a special Tennessee team that proved the doubters wrong a few weeks ago with a win over Alabama.

While we believe Georgia will ultimately prevail, we’ll take the Volunteers against the spread with the UNDER.

Final Score Prediction: Georgia 34, Tennessee 28
