Las Vegas Bowl Odds:
Wisconsin Badgers vs. Arizona State Sun Devils
Wisconsin disappointed in its final regular season game. The Badgers were on a seven-game winning streak and had defeated No. 25 Purdue and No. 9 Iowa heading into their matchup against Minnesota. They lost that game 23-13. Arizona State dropped back-to-back games in October to Utah and Washington State, but finished the season on a 3-1 run, including a 38-15 win over Arizona in their final game of the season.
These teams compare well on offense. Wisconsin averaged 25.8 points and 377.2 yards per game in 2021, while Arizona averaged 29.7 points and 401.3 yards. As for defense, the Badgers have a big advantage over the Sun Devils. Wisconsin gave up an average of 16.4 points per game and 240.8 total yards, while Arizona allowed 20.9 points and an average of 329.2 points per game.
Watch for Braelon Allen to run the ball often for Wisconsin. Allen had seven games of over 100 yards rushing this season, including a high of 228 yards against Nebraska. His 1,109 yards were among the most in the Big Ten. Allen’s rushing should concern an Arizona State team that gave up 1,548 rushing yards and 17 rushing touchdowns.

Arizona State is going to rely on quarterback Jayden Daniels. Daniels threw for 2,221 yards this season with a 66.4 percent completion rate. Wisconsin’s defense allowed the fewest passing yards in the Big 10 in 2021 at 2,107. The Badgers will also need to keep an eye on Arizona State’s leading rusher, Rachaad White, who had 1,006 yards on the ground this season, but White only had two games of over 100 yards on the ground. The Wisconsin defense was the only Big Ten defense to allow less than 1,000 yards on the ground. The team held opponents to a total of 782 rushing yards.
Las Vegas Bowl Best Bets
Pick Wisconsin to win. If the Badgers can shake off the loss to Minnesota and enter the Las Vegas Bowl with a positive attitude, they should be able to hand the Sun Devils a loss.
Pick the under. I expect the Wisconsin offense to have success on the ground with Allen and that should eat up a lot of the clock and keep the game relatively low scoring. I also expect the Wisconsin defense to keep Arizona State’s offense from scoring a lot of points.
Pick the Badgers to cover. With the effective running game and top-notch defense, Wisconsin should be the better team at the Las Vegas Bowl. The team’s defense and rushing prowess should keep the Sun Devils from establishing a rhythm.
