Perhaps the most interesting matchup of the American Men’s Championship quarterfinal features the (19) Memphis Tigers taking on the (21) Connecticut Huskies, this Thursday Night at 9 PM ET at the FedExForum, in Memphis, Tennessee.
Memphis ended the regular season with a 67-58 win over the SMU Mustangs, with 18 points from their leading scorer Joe Jackson. The Tigers finished with a 23-8 record, but alternated wins and losses in their last four outings.
“This win showed our growth as a team and showed we have a dangerous team,” Jackson said. “Seeing so many different defenses over the year has prepared us for the road ahead. I was frustrated at halftime and wanted to play better for myself, and my teammates. I had to turn on an extra gear and get the game going.”
UConn had their worst loss of the season in their last regular season game against the Louisville Cardinals, losing 81-48.
“This is the worst we could ever play. But guess what? As bad as we’ve played, we can turn it around. So, I’m not giving up on this season,” coach Kevin Ollie said. “This season is not over yet, but I told them if we play like this we have two games and then everybody can go to spring break.”
The NCAAB Betting odds have Memphis as 4 point favorites in this one. The Huskies are 1-5 ATS in their last 6 neutral site games, and the Tigers are 4-0 ATS in their last 4 neutral site games.
