NCAAF Week 13 Sneak Peek – USC at (18) UCLA

USC Trojans at (18) UCLA Bruins

Week 12 in college football will feature huge games with even bigger playoff implications. Looking ahead to week 13, one of the best rivalries in the nation will take center stage at the Rose Bowl in Pasadena, as the USC Trojans (6-3, 5-2 Pac-12) clash with the UCLA Bruins (8-2, 5-2 Pac-12) on November 22.

UCLA has a bye in week 12 and will come into week 13 on a four-game winning streak. Their current hot-streak includes victories over Cal, Colorado, Arizona, and most recently, Washington.  Bruins QB Brett Hundley led his team to a 44-30 victory over the Huskies, throwing for 302 yards, two touchdowns, and no interceptions.

The offensive outburst against Washington was nothing new for the Bruins, who are 33rd in the nation in scoring (averaging 34.7 points per game). Unfortunately for the Bruins, giving up 30 was also par for the course, as their defense has been suspect all season, allowing 27.6 points per game (76th in the country).

USC will play Cal in week 12 before taking on UCLA. The perennial powerhouse is having something of a down year and already has three losses on its resume. The Trojans have quality losses to current-No. 9 Arizona State (38-34) and current-No. 17 Utah (24-21), but they also dropped a non-conference game to middling Boston College (37-31). Head coach Steve Sarkisian is feeling the pressure to win out and keep the Trojans’ record respectable, but that will be easier said than done. After Cal and UCLA, the Trojans still have to face No. 10 Notre Dame.

The Trojans have had the better of the recent head-to-head against the Bruins, winning 12 of the last 19 and covering in ten. The Bruins have won the last two meetings, though, covering the spread in both. The most noticeable trend is that seven of the last eight games have stayed under.
