Inter Milan
A runner-up performance in 2022 and a third-place finish in 2023 has Inter Milan looking for a bounce-back season in 2023-24. A trip to the Champions League Final in June, where they lost to Manchester City, should give the club some momentum and confidence heading into this season. Inter Milan have a bit of a cushion in the early going of the season as their schedule is not very demanding, outside of a matchup opposite AC Milan. However, that schedule will also put pressure on the team to win and win convincingly.
Inter Milan picked up Marcus Thuram, Yann Sommer, Juan Cuadrado, and Davide Frattesi in the offseason, while losing Andre Onana, Marcelo Brozovic, and Milan Skriniar.
Nerazzurri have won the championship 19 times, which ties them with AC Milan as the second-winningest team in Serie A history.
Napoli
Last season saw Napoli take home their first Serie A title since 1990. The team now has the difficult task of defending that crown, which no team has done since Juventus ruled the league from 2012 through 2020.
One of the first things that happened after Napoli won the championship was that the club’s head coach, Luciano Spalletti, resigned with one year left on his contract. The 64-year-old said he needed some time off and that he wanted to spend time with his family. In his place, Napoli picked up the 59-year-old Rudi Garcia. Garcia will be under the spotlight and a fair amount of pressure at the opening of the 2023-24 season. He cannot afford to have his team, the defending Serie A champions, stumble.
The championship club lost Kim Min-jae, but they still have players like Victor Osimhen, and Khvicha Kvaratskhelia on the club.
Juventus
The winningest club in Serie A history with 36 championships, Juventus look to shake off the disappointment and controversy, mainly being docked points for false accounting, of last season, where they finished in seventh place. One of the changes the team made was to sign 23-year-old Timothy Weah, who the club hopes will be a player who helps them in 2023-24 and for years to come. The team also picked up Cristiano Giuntoli as the team’s Director of Football after he left Napoli.
Giorgio Chiellini and Paulo Dybala left the team, and that will hurt. However, it looks like star player Dusan Vlahovic will stay with the club, for now, after there being some talk of a transfer with Chelsea.
