Manchester City
While winning the 2022-23 UEFA Champions League title was not easy for Manchester City, at least the team didn’t have the target on it that it now has as defending champs. Every other team in the league will be gunning for Man City in 2023-24. With that being said, on paper Man City is still the best team in the Champions League in 2023-24, and as such, the club is the rightful betting favorite to repeat as champions.
Of course, the player to keep an eye on for Man City is Erling Haaland, who won the 2022-23 UEFA Champions League Golden Boot award after averaging more than one goal per game last season. As far as new players on the roster, the team added Mateo Kovacic from Chelsea to help with the midfield.
Bayern Munich
In 2020, Bayern Munich ended a Champions League title drought of six years when the club captured its sixth title. The team looks to keep its current drought from extending to its fourth season in 2023-24. Bayern Munich had a disappointing season in 2022-23, losing to Manchester City in the Quarter-Final round of the knockout phase. However, the team turned around and won the Bundesliga title.
One big difference for Bayern Munich is the experience and time that team manager Thomas Tuchel has with the club. Tuchel picked up the job during the season last year, and that was not the best scenario for the team or the manager. Now that he has some experience and, more importantly, an entire off-season to work with the talented team, things should improve for Bayern Munich in 2023-24, which is why they are one of the betting favorites ahead of this season.
Real Madrid
One of only three clubs with betting odds for the 2023-24 UEFA Champions League under +1000, Real Madrid looks to get back to the top of the league. In 2021-22, the team won its record-setting 14th Champions League title but fell off the mark last year when they bowed out in the Semi-finals to Manchester City. No Champions League team besides Real Madrid has more than seven titles. The team are perennial betting favorite to win the Champions League.
The club has a coach in Carlo Ancelotti, who knows how to win the Champions League, having done so four times in the past. The team lost one of its more notable players in Karim Benzema at the end of last year, but they added Joselu and Jude Bellingham.
