The big picture
The Gujarat Titans entered the 2024 IPL as one of the favorites to win the competition. But so far, it has been a season to forget for the 2022 winners and 2023 runners-up, as they have only won four of their eleven matches and sit bottom of the table on eight points, four points adrift of the play-off places.
Although it’s still not mathematically impossible for the Titans to qualify for the playoffs, they are out to +50000 to win the competition. The Super Kings have 12 points from their 11 matches, winning six and losing five. In their last three, they have won two and lost one. Finishing in the top two positions in the table looks beyond CSK. And with four teams fighting it out for the remaining two play-off places, progressing to the knock-out stages is far from assured for the defending champions.

IPL 2024 Outright Winner Betting
The two stand-out teams in the 2024 IPL are the Kolkata Knight Riders and the Rajasthan Royals.
Both franchises have 16 points, having won eight of their 11 matches played. The Royals were the favorites, having started with eight wins from nine. But they have suffered a couple of setbacks, losing their two most recent matches to the Delhi Capitals (20 runs) on Tuesday and Sunrisers Hyderabad (one run) last Thursday.
The Royals have England captain Jos Buttler in top form. But they will lose him for the playoffs, as he has to go home to prepare for England’s series with Pakistan. The same fate awaits Phil Salt, who has been in red-hot form for KKR.
The losses of one of their star performers may affect both teams as they attempt to win the competition outright. At the moment, the best cricket betting sites make KKR the favorite to win at +187. The Rajasthan Royals are second in the betting at +225.
Behind the two standout teams of 2024 are CSK at +450, Sunrisers at +700, Lucknow at +1400, and the Delhi Capitals at +2500. Gujarat is +50000.

Onto the match betting picks, Gujarat has played five home matches in 2024, winning two and losing three.
In recent matches, the Titans have lost home and away against a struggling RCB team, and they also suffered the indignity of being bowled out for just 89 against the Delhi Capitals in Match 32, Gujarat’s seventh fixture of the season.

The batting seems to be the problem for the 2022 champions. Scores of over 200 in this year’s IPL have been commonplace. But while that’s been going on elsewhere, the Titans have had scores of 147 all out, 130 all out, and the infamous 89.
Even when Gujarat has posted 200 plus, it hasn’t been enough. In the recent nine-wicket defeat to RCB, the Titans posted 200/3 from their 20 Overs. Showing how underpar the score was, RCB scored the runs in 16 Overs and won with 24 balls remaining. It was a thrashing for Gujarat.
The Super Kings have matches against the in-form Rajasthan Royals and struggling RCB to come after this. A win over the Royals is far from assured, so Ruturaj Gaikwad and his team will be looking to get the win over a misfiring Gujarat team.
One win out of their three matches isn’t likely to get them into the playoffs, making this a must-win game for Chennai. We say they will do it and make a win for the Super Kings, our betting pick.
