The Nebraska Cornhuskers and the Texas A&M Aggies meet in the opening round of the NCAA Tournament on Friday afternoon. With a lot of high seeds playing the lower seeds in the opening round, there are a lot of one-sided matches slated. Thankfully, this is one exception to the norm, with two evenly matched schools set to face off in Memphis.
The Cornhuskers are seeded No.8, and the Aggies are seeded No.9. This will be Nebraska’s first appearance in the postseason NCAA Tournament in ten years. Things weren’t so plain sailing for the Aggies, who had to rely on a call from the selection committee. After a disappointing season for Texas A&M, they have been given one more chance. But the Cornhuskers will have other ideas.

In the betting to win the NCAA Championship, Nebraska are the shorter odds of the two sides – although, neither are in the running to win out. The Cornhuskers are +10000, and the Aggies are +15000.

In the betting to win the South bracket, the Houston Cougars are the favorite at +130. A whole host of other schools are favored above the Cornhuskers and the Aggies. They are Marquette (+550), Duke (+575), Kentucky (+650), Wisconsin (+1400), Florida (+1400), and Texas Tech (+1800).
Nebraska and Texas A&M are next, both at +2500.
Elsewhere, UConn is favored to win the East at -105, Purdue is +170 favorite to win the Midwest and Arizona is +210 to win the West.

The Cornhuskers finished the regular season in third place in the Big Ten. They come into the match off a 98-87 Big Ten Tournament defeat to Illinois. But that isn’t a reflection on their general form, as they are 7-3 in their last ten.
In the Big Ten, the Cornhuskers had a 12-8 conference record. Overall, they are 23-10, with an 18-1 home record and a 3-8 record on the road.
The Texas A&M Aggies finished down in seventh place in the Southeastern. Their conference record was 9-9, and overall they are 20-14. At home, the Aggies were 10-5. On the road, they were 6-6.
In their last ten matches, the Aggies are 5-5. In the SEC Tournament they did find some form with an impressive 97-87 over No.2 seed Kentucky.

But they followed that up with a 95-90 loss to Florida in their most recent game.
