The top team in the Pacific Division travels to Texas tonight to face the Central Division’s leading team when the Vegas Golden Knights meet the Dallas Stars. Tonight’s game marks the second meeting of these teams in the 2024 NHL season, Dallas won the first game, which took place in mid-October 3-2 in a shootout.

Vegas Golden Knights betting breakdown
The defending Stanley Cup champions, the Vegas Golden Knights largely stood pat this offseason. The team’s only significant change to its roster was trading Riley Smith to the Penguins. That trade freed up the cap space the club used to sign forward Ivan Barbashev to a five-year, $25 million contract. Barbashev played 23 regular season games for the team, picking up six goals and 10 assists, but he picked up steam in the playoffs, finishing with 18 points in 22 games. The 27-year-old had a career-best year in 2022, scoring 60 points for the St. Louis Blues. Barbashev spent most of the playoffs teamed with Jack Eichel and Jonathan Marchessault, who led the team in scoring during the playoffs.
The fact that management did not make any enormous changes to the Stanley Cup-winning roster speaks volumes about the chemistry and confidence this team has. With how the club has played this year, ownership and management made the right decision to keep most of the Cup-winning lineup intact.
William Karlsson leads the team in scoring with 20 points. He is tops in goals (9) on the club. Shea Theodore leads the team in assists with 14, while Jack Eichel is second on the team in scoring with 19 points (7G, 12A).

The Dallas Stars‘ decision to keep their core together for another year was a wise one. The team was a deep one last year, with nine players who scored more than 10 goals in the regular season. Adding Matt Duchene to that group will only help, as Duchene put up 22 goals for Nashville in 2023 after scoring a career-high 43 for that club in 2022.
The Stars are playing sound defensive hockey this year, only the St. Louis Blues have given up fewer goals in the Central Division. Dallas has scored 61 goals so far and surrendered 48.
Joe Pavelski leads the team in scoring with 17 points, the veteran’s eight goals are tops on the team. Miro Heiskanen leads the team in assists with 11, and Roope Hintz is second on the team in scoring with 16 points (7G, 9A).
Jake Oettinger is carrying the load in net for Dallas, with 12 starts. He has an 8-3-1 record, a .920 save percentage, and a 2.50 goals against average.
