Vegas Golden Knights to blast the St. Louis Blues on Monday night

  • Vegas (16-5-4) is favored by 1.5 goals (+126) over St. Louis (12-10-1) at home on Monday night
  • Golden Knights netminder Adin Hill has the best GAA (1.87) and best Sv% (.935) in the NHL this season
  • Puck drop for the Western Conference matchup is at 10:00 pm ET from T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas, NV

The Golden Knights have rebounded from a three-game losing skid with wins over the Canucks and Capitals. Through 25 games, Vegas is now atop the Pacific division with 36 points. On Monday, they’ll host a Blues team coming off a 4-1 loss to Arizona on Saturday night. Sitting just two games above .500, St. Louis is currently holding down the final Wild Card playoff spot in the Western Conference.

Reigning Cup champs start strong

There has been no Stanley Cup hangover in Sin City. Bruce Cassidy’s club was leading the NHL with 36 points following Saturday’s action. Jack Eichel has 10 goals and 17 assists through 25 games while Mark Stone has added seven snipes and 14 helpers.

Along with a solid defensive corps featuring Shea Theodore and Alex Pietrangelo, the Golden Knights are once again getting outstanding goaltending from Adin Hill. Last year’s playoff hero is 10-2 with the best goals against average (1.87) and best save percentage (.935) in the league.

St. Louis’ inconsistency

St. Louis bumped up their scoring from 1.86 goals per game in October to 3.36 goals per game in November. But they seem destined to be no better than the .500 team they were last season. While Robert Thomas has blossomed into a No. 1 center, with eight goals and 15 assists through 23 games, the Blues don’t have much else going for them.

Craig Berube’s club has alternated wins and losses over the past six contests. However, they’re coming off a 4-1 loss to the Arizona Coyotes on Saturday so they may be due for a victory over Vegas.

Vegas vs St. Louis

Vegas is a -191 money line favorite on Monday and +126 to cover the 1.5-goal spread. St. Louis is 5-7-1 away from home this season while the Golden Knights enjoy a 9-2-1 record at T-Mobile Arena. Bruce Cassidy’s club has a +23 goal differential compared to minus-5 for the Blues.

The Golden Knights vs Blues tilt has an over/under of 6 total goals. St. Louis games have skewed heavily towards the UNDER (14-7-2) this season. And they have only hit the OVER in two of 11 road contests. The Knights also lean towards the UNDER (14-11 overall), with seven of 12 home games going UNDER.

Best bets

While the Blues have alternated wins and losses over the past two weeks, their W’s have come against shaky competition like the Sabres, Blackhawks and Coyotes. There’s no reason to think they can hang with an elite home team like Vegas.

Take the Golden Knights to cover the 1.5-goal puck line (+126) with the UNDER 6 goals.
