In 2022, G2 Esports defeated Team Queso to take home the $90,000 first-place prize money in the Winter Major. Gen. G

Part of Group D, Gen. G was formed in September 2022. The team got off to a rough start at the Fall: North American Regional Qualifier that month and finished in 12-14th place. However, the team squad rebounded at the October Closed Qualifier event and placed in 3rd-5th. After that, Gen. G got even hotter, and in December they finished in the No. 1 spot at the 2022-23 Fall Split Major, taking down Moist Esports and earning $100,000 in the process.

The team that won that event, ApparentlyJack, Chronic, noly, Pollo and Allushin remains intact for the 2023 Winter Major.

FaZe Clan

FaZe Clan start the Group portion of the 2023 Rocket League Winter Split as part of Group A. The team had a strong showing in 2022, finishing the year in 3rd-4th place in the 2022 World Championship and taking home prize money of $200,000. The team, which hails from the United States, took 3rd-4th in the Fall Split Major, losing to Gen. G in the Semifinals 4-1. The squad followed that with first-place finishes at the North America Winter Cup in February and, more recently a first-place finish at the North America Winter Invitational in March. They defeated Gen. G by a score of 4-3 in the Finals of the Winter Cup and topped G2 Esports 4-1 at the Winter Invitational.

The FaZe Clan roster for the Winter Major remains unchanged since September with Firstkiller, Sypical, mist, and Roll Dizz.

Karmine Corp

Hailing from France, Karmine Corp starts the Winter Major as part of Group B. Karmine Corp wrapped up 2022 with a 5th-8th place finish at the Rocket League World Championship. The club then opened 2023 with a 5th-8th place finish at the Fall Major, where Moist Esports eliminated them in the Quarterfinals by a score of 4-1. Karmine Corp rebounded from that by placing first at the EU Winter Open and the EU Winter Cup. The club finished as the runner-up to Team Liquid in the more recent EU Winter Invitational.

Karmine Corp has been together as a unit since October. The team consists of itachi, vatira, ExoTiiK, and Eversax.

Best bet to win the Rocket League Winter Major 2023

It won’t be a surprise to see Gen. G and FaZe Clan matched up together in the finals of the 2023 Rocket League Winter Major, and the pick between them is a toss-up. However, I think FaZe Clan is playing a bit better right now as a team. They also present a better value bet. So with that, the pick is for FaZe Clan to win Winter Major.

Pick: Faze Clan to win the 2022 Rocket League Winter Major.
