w7m esports
2023 marks the first year that w7m esports has made the Six Invitational event. They did so this year with ease, claiming the No. 1 spot in the Global Rankings with 1,240 points. In 2022, w7m esports made a big jump after being one of the lowest-ranked teams in Brazil in 2021. The team was one of only two clubs to play in every Six Major in 2022.
w7m esports had a rough 9th-12th place finish in the Six Charlotte Major, but bounced back with 3rd-4th place finishes in both the Six Berlin Major and Six Jönköping Major.
The big addition to the w7m esports roster in 2022 was Julio Giacomelli who joined the team in September. Adding “Julio” helped w7m esports finish the year strong.
Team BDS
The No. 2 squad in the Global Standings, Team BDS is a threat to win the 2023 Six Invitational after finishing near the bottom of the pack at the 2022 edition of this event. Team BDS bounced back from their 17th-20th finish at the Six Invitational 2022 to earn 1,170 points over the year. The European club had a very strong second half of 2022, winning the Six Jönköping Major 2022 over Team Liquid and then following that with a first-place finish at the European League 2022 Finals with a win over MNM Gaming.
Team BDS added Théo “LikEfac” Mariano in September 2022 to their club. It was the first signing for the team since Loïc “BriD” Chongtep joined in June 2020. The signing paid dividends for the club and it changed the way the team has competed in a positive way. With the addition of the new player and the way they finished the year, expectations are high for Team BDS heading into the 2023 Six Invitational.
Team Liquid
If there is a team looking for a breakthrough performance at the 2023 Six Invitational, it is Team Liquid. The Brazilian team has played well over the past three years, but they have not won a Major since they took first place at the Six November 2020 Major in Brazil. Team Liquid has been in the mix since then, including a 3rd-4th place finish at the Charlotte Major in 2022 and a second at the Jönköping Major in 2022, but they have struggled to get over the hump and win a big event in a few years. Winning the 2023 Six Invitational would be a major victory for Team Liquid.
Best bet to win the Six Invitational 2023
With how they have played over the past few years, it’s a matter of when, not if, Team Liquid is going to break through and end their winless drought in big Rainbow Six events and that’s why I am picking them to win the 2023 Six Invitational.
Best bet to win 2023 Six Invitational: Team Liquid.
