This week’s Thursday night showdown pits the Indianapolis Colts against the Houston Texans (8:25 ET on CBS/NFL Network).  After starting out 0-2, the Colts have reeled off three straight wins and are tied atop the AFC South with the Texans.  Meanwhile, the Texans are coming off a heartbreaking loss at Dallas.

Tonight’s matchup will have important ramifications for the rest of the season.  The winner will seize the division lead and also have a leg up head-to-head on the loser.

“It’s a huge game for us,” Texans offensive tackle Duane Brown said.  “The good thing about the Colts is that we’re very familiar with them.  Of course you have a different game plan than we’ve had in years past, but as far as the personnel and things like that we kind of know what to expect.  So that makes it a little bit easier, but it’s never easy.”

Running back Arian Foster expressed his dismay at having to play Thursday night.  “It’s annoying for players,” he said. “I don’t know one player that likes it. I really don’t know a fan that likes it, either. I think it’s just the league’s way of trying to generate more revenue.

“Nobody is ready to play physically after a Sunday game. But you’ve got to go out there and do it.”

Fortunately for the Texans, they will be the home team tonight.  But they’ll still have to contend with Andrew Luck and the Colts’ high-octane offense.

Indianapolis is tied for first in the league in scoring offense, averaging over 31 points per game.  However, their offense struggled last week against Baltimore’s stingy defense.  Houston’s defense will present a similar challenge to the Colts.

Indianapolis is currently a 1.5-point favorite.  The over/under stands at 45.5.
