BEST BETS FOR NFL WEEK 9

Sure, the Patriots have lost four-straight games but this is Adam Gase’s Jets were talking about. New York is winless through eight contests and to this point has not kept a game within eight points. Sam Darnold is also nursing a shoulder injury and the last time he played against New England on Monday Night Football he saw ghosts in a 33-0 loss. Patriots (-7.0)

After deciding against trading receiver Will Fuller before Tuesday’s 4 pm deadline, the Texans head to Jacksonville to face rookie QB Jake Luton. Houston defeated the Jaguars 30-14 just three weeks ago and should be able to win by a touchdown on Sunday. Finally freed from Bill O’Brien, Deshaun Watson is on pace to finish with a career-high 4,784 yards and 34 touchdown passes. Texans (-6.5)

The 3-4 Lions strangely have more Ws than the 2-5 Vikings this season, but Detroit’s offense has struggled without jump ball receiver Kenny Golladay, who will miss Week 9 with a hip injury. Since taking over in 2018, Matt Patricia has never defeated Mike Zimmer’s Minnesota team, losing four games by an average of 14.5 points. Vikings (-4.0)

MORE TASTY GAME PICKS

Lamar Jackson’s turnover-filled performance in last week’s 28-24 loss to the rival Steelers caused Baltimore’s Super Bowl odds to dip to a season-low +1000, and the 2019 MVP could have trouble getting back on track against a strong Colts defense that has game-wrecking linebacker Darius Leonard back in the lineup. Colts (+3.0)

After allowing the most yards, passing yards and first downs in the NFL coming into Week 8 against their NFC West rivals in San Francisco, Seattle’s defense dominated the 49ers, building up a 30-7 lead through three quarters. Given the improvements on defense and Josh Allen’s uninspiring play of late, it’s hard to see Buffalo keeping pace with Russell Wilson. Seahawks (-3.0)

With Dan Quinn out of the league, Chargers coach Anthony Lynn has assumed his throne as the league’s premier game-calling choke artist. In Sunday’s 31-30 loss to the Broncos, Los Angeles became the first team in NFL history to blow four leads of 16 points or more in four straight games. With impressive wins over the Saints, Chiefs, and Browns in the books, there’s no reason to think the Raiders won’t take care of business against a 2-5 Chargers club. Las Vegas (+1.5)

Finally, on the Thursday Nighter, we like Rodgers to get his revenge against the beat-up Niners. (Packers -5.5)
