The Philadelphia Eagles had a rough preseason week one facing the Patriots, but they will try to bounce back this Thursday when they face the Carolina Panthers at 7:30 PM ET.
The Eagles keep looking for their starting quarterback. Michael Vick (7/8, 65 yards, 1 TD, 0 INT) had a pretty good game with a bomb TD to DeSean Jackson in the 31-22 loss to the Patriots; however, Matt Barkley (11/22, 103 yards, 1 TD, 0 INT) looked great, as well. Nick Foles was the only one of the three who didn’t throw a touchdown.
“Both got us in the end zone. I was pleased,” coach Chip Kelly said. “They played pretty well. Both rose to the occasion. I was excited with the way they played.”
Foles will be the starting quarterback for the game against the Panthers.
“No, I just need to go out there and play,” Foles said. “I need to go out there and execute the offense and put points on the board. That’s always been the ultimate goal. Just learn from the last (game) and move forward, just take these practices and get better. It’s the same way I’ve approached everything I’ve always done. I’m not changing anything. I’m going to keep doing the things that I’ve done my whole life that got me here, and that is just work as hard as I possibly can and take it one play a time.”
The Panthers beat the Chicago Bars 24-17. Cam Newton went 3-6 for 16 yards, 1 TD and 1 INT. The thing here is that there’s no competition in the Panthers’ camp.
The Eagles are 3 point favorites in the NFL odds for the Thursday matchup.
