Things are getting festive with Christmas right around the corner — and the world of golf is too. The sport is holding its family-friendly PNC Championship from December 15 to 17. Not only is the event wholesome, but it’s also bet-worthy. Give this a read for our expert betting picks on which team wins the 2022 PNC Championship!
Who’s Playing At 2022 PNC Championship?
It’s a star-studded affair at this year’s tourney. For those unfamiliar, the PNC Championship is a unique tournament that sees golf pros team up with a member of their family. The 2022 edition includes 20 teams. Tiger Woods and his son, Charlie, are the most notable duo playing at the PNC Championship. But other teams to look out for are Nelly and Petr Korda, Justin and Mike Thomas, Jordan and Shawn Spieth, Lee and Daniel Trevino and Nick and Matthew Faldo.
The defending champions, however, are John Daly and his son John Daly II. The father-son duo held off a late surge from the Woods in the 2021 event to claim the title. Despite the win, the Daly’s aren’t betting favorites going into 2022. As it stands, here’s the team the most popular golf betting sites have pegged as betting frontrunners:
Team | ![]() | |
Team Thomas | +325 | +325 |
Team Spieth | +550 | +550 |
Team Woods | +550 | +550 |
Team Daly | +550 | +550 |
Team Cink | +800 | +800 |
Team Langer | +1000 | +1000 |
All in all, 20 teams will take center stage at the Ritz-Carlton GC in Orlando — the hosting location. The tourney is a par-72 completion, played across 7,234 yards, and contested under a scramble format. For those unfamiliar, in a scramble, the two team members each play a tee shot. They select the better drive, alternating shots from there until it’s in the hole.
This is not an official PGA event, therefore there’s zero PGA Tour prize money at stake. Though, that’s not to say money isn’t on the line. In total, tourney winners will share a just-under prize pool of $1.1 million.
Best Bets To Win 2022 PNC Championship
Out of the 20-team pool, who’s the best bet to make at the 2022 PNC Championship? Welp, first things first, we advise making at least two picks here. While we can gauge how the pro players will perform, it’s much harder to do so with their accompanying family member. That unknown variable makes this tourney more of a crapshoot than a regular PGA event. Therefore, it would be smart to throw money multiple ways — and not go “all in.”
There hasn’t been a repeat winner at this event since Bernhard Langer and Stefan Langer pulled it off in 2006 and 2007. But what the heck, we’re betting the Daly’s do it. Look, the younger Daly doesn’t fall far from the tree. He’s currently playing the sport at the University of Arkansas so he’s no slouch at this thing. Plus, we love the Daly’s odds. Getting the reigning champions at +550 sounds like a steal to us.
As for our second pick, we’re going with the favorites, Justin Thomas and father, Mike. Let’s remember the father-son pairing won this event back in 2021. To no one’s surprise, Mike has his own past in the sport. Mike was the head professional at the Harmony Landing Country Club in Goshen, Kentucky — which helped raise Justin into the world-class player he is today. Like the Daly’s, we like the winning past of team Thomas and that explains our betting rationale here.
How To Watch 2022 PNC Championship?
There are multiple ways to watch the 2022 PNC Championship. In fact, TV coverage over the three days will be split between two TV networks — NBC and The Golf Channel. Another part of the event will be exclusively streamed on NBC’s Peacock app. We did our best to break down where to watch on what days and times:
- Friday, December 16 (Pro-Am): 3-5 pm EST; Golf Channel
- Saturday, December 17 (Round 1): 1-3 pm EST; Peacock and 2-6 pm EST; NBC
- Sunday, December 18 (Round 2): 11:30 am-12:30 pm EST; Peacock and 12:30-1:30 pm EST; Golf Channel and 1:30-4:30 pm EST; NBC
If you’re a cord-cutter, then you can just stream ALL the telecasts on Peacock. That makes it a whole lot easier than flipping around TV channels. The cheapest package of Peacock costs only $5 a month so the convenience of having everyone on one app is probably worth it.
