Now that Carr has won the job, he’s ready to lead the offense and prove that he’s the best quarterback Notre Dame has inside of the locker room over in South Bend. Minchey on the other hand is going to have to accept the fact that he’s the backup and still prepare as though he’s the starter. Freeman expects him to do so, but transfer talk is already surrounding him.
Notre Dame is Starting The Carr after all.

Notre Dame football remains a 2.5-point favorite vs. Miami for Week 1
When he was in high school, Minchey committed to the Pittsburgh Panthers but then he changed his mind and flipped to Notre Dame. That decision is haunting him a little bit. Instead of him being a starting quarterback, he will enter the new season as a backup option for the third straight year. He likely would have been the starter if he played for Pittsburgh.
With Minchey hoping to be a starter, the expectation is that he’ll likely enter the transfer portal after this upcoming season comes to an end for the Notre Dame Fighting Irish. The new year begins for the team on August 31, with Miami first up on the team’s schedule. The Hurricanes of Miami also will have a new starting quarterback. His name is Carson Beck and he’s known for being a brilliant quarterback.
Beck transferred from Georgia to Miami and he’s hoping to be a star player for Miami head football coach Mario Cristobal. According to the best sports betting sites, Notre Dame remains a 2.5-point favorite. The NCAAF betting odds did not change at all after Carr was named the starter for the Notre Dame Fighting Irish by head coach Marcus Freeman. It’s a decision that a lot of Notre Dame fans were surprised by.
The best college football betting sites have given Notre Dame -110 odds to win the first game of the year against the Miami Hurricanes. Beck will have an upset in mind, and CJ Carr will serve as a mentor for the rest of his teammates taking the field. Minchey will be standing on the sidelines, which is where he didn’t want to be. Minchey was close to winning the job of being the starting quarterback, but Carr did instead.
