There are not good news at Jacksonville as quarterback Blaine Gabbert sprained his right ankle during the training camp practice on Monday.Β He was carried off the training field and didnβt practice anymore.
Gabbert supposed to fight for the starting position vs Chad Henne, but the extent of the injury hasnβt been informed.
“He got up, and he walked off, and that’s a good thing,” Jaguars head coach Gus Bradley added.
Gabbert will be evaluated over the next 48 hours. Blaine played his entire rookie season in 2011 with a nagging toe injury, but this is a little more complicated.
“Our mentality is we’ve got to move on,” Bradley said. “The next man up. Obviously we care about Blaine, and we want him to get back and hopefully it’s nothing serious, but as the mentality of the team it gives an opportunity for the next guy to step up and we just move forward.”
The Jags have the worst NFL odds from the entire AFC South listed 30/1 to win one of the worst divisions in football.
Jacksonville is also 60/1 to win the AFC Championship game, which clearly wonβt happen.Β Β Vegas also listed the total wins for this franchise at 5 victories for 2013.
“Training camp is always one of the times when injury bug can really cost a team,” veteran guard Uche Nwaneri said. “We’re definitely cognizant of the fact that getting guys hurt can really hurt a team. You’ve still got to go out and play.”
