Mahomes vs Burrow

Patrick Mahomes (+300) could become the first player since Kurt Warner in 1999 to to win the NFL MVP and Super Bowl MVP in the same season. The 27-year-old captured his first Super Bowl MVP back in 2020, passing for 286 yards and two touchdowns in a 31-20 victory over San Francisco. But, he struggled the next year against Tampa Bay, throwing two interceptions in a 31-9 blowout loss.

Mahomes led the Chiefs to their fifth-consecutive AFC championship game with a 27-20 win over Jacksonville. However, he suffered a high-ankle sprain that will limit him in Sunday’s matchup with the Bengals. Joe Burrow (+375) is 3-0 all-time versus Mahomes, including a 27-24 overtime victory in last year’s conference title game.

Hurts vs Purdy

Jalen Hurts (+400) was the favorite to win the 2022 NFL MVP before a late-season shoulder injury caused him to miss two games. The Eagles dual-threat superstar was back in fine form on Saturday night, combining for three total TDs in a 38-7 demolition of the divisional-rival Giants.

Brock Purdy (+600) will be only the fifth rookie quarterback ever to start a conference championship game, according to NFL research. None of his predecessors made it to the Super Bowl. Yet, the seventh-rounder has been one of the most competent starters in football during the 49ers’ 12-game win streak.

Skill position players

Christian McCaffrey (+1200) has the shortest Super Bowl MVP odds of all the skill-position players on the board. If you think the Niners will hoist the Lombardi Trophy in Arizona in a couple weeks, also consider George Kittle (+8500). The star tight end scored seven TDs over the final four games of the season. His 95 receiving yards, including a ridiculous circus catch, was crucial to SF’s 19-12 victory over Dallas on Sunday.

Travis Kelce (+2500) has 95+ receiving yards in each of Kansas City’s last seven playoff games with eight TDs. Ja’Marr Chase (+2800) caught five balls for 89 yards in last year’s Super Bowl, only to be outshined by teammate Tee Higgins (+8000), who racked up 100 yards and two scores. Philadelphia’s duo of A.J. Brown (+4000) and Devonta Smith (+6000) are equally capable of obliterating a secondary on Super Bowl Sunday.

Best Bet

Joe Burrow (+375) has already doubled the playoff win total of the Bengals’ franchise since arriving three years ago. We believe he’ll pick up postseason victories #6 and #7 over the next couple weeks en route to a Lombardi Trophy and Super Bowl MVP.

The pride of Cincinnati threw for 242 yards and 2 TDs in a 27-10 Divisional Round beatdown of the Bills. And he would love another shot on football’s biggest stage after suffering a close loss to the Rams in 2022.
