Updated 2021 NFL MVP Futures Heading Into Week 13

Tampa Bay Buccaneers quarterback Tom Brady holds onto his spot as the favorite to win the 2021 NFL MVP award following a 38-31 win over the Indianapolis Colts. However, Brady’s odds decreased a bit following Week 12 thanks to the way Josh Allen and the Buffalo Bills dismantled the New Orleans Saints.

The Bills defeated the Saints 31-6 on Thanksgiving Day. Allen went 23-for-28 in the air and threw for 260 yards. His 82.1 percent completion rate was his highest of the season and his four touchdowns matched his best game of 2021 as well.

Mac Jones of the New England Patriots and Derek Carr of the Las Vegas Raiders are new to the MVP discussion this week. They join the mix the week after Kirk Cousins and Jonathan Taylor put their names in the mix for the 2021 NFL MVP award.

NFL MVP Odds Update

Allen Charges Back

Josh Allen has had an up and down year when it comes to the MVP race. He was +900 to win the award in the preseason odds and dipped to +1400 after Week 1. Allen worked his way to being the favorite at +650 after Week 5. After that he bounced around a bit in the rankings. Heading into Week 11, Allen regained the top spot when his odds reached +250. He dipped to +600 after week 11, but regained some momentum after Week 12.

The next two weeks could loom large in Allen’s chances to win the 2021 NFL most valuable player award as Buffalo plays the New England Patriots, who are on a six-game winning streak, in Week 13 and Brady and the Buccaneers in Week 14.

Mac Jones Enters the Discussion

After six weeks of play, the New England Patriots were 2-4 and coming off a 35-29 overtime loss to the Dallas Cowboys. Something seemed to click for the team after that setback. Today, the Patriots are 8-4, lead the league in point differential at +146 and are in first place in the AFC East.

The Patriots are coming off a 36-13 win over the Tennessee Titans and have allowed a total of 26 points in their past four games.

With the way the Patriots are playing, the team’s rookie QB, Mac Jones, is now a +2500 to win the NFL MVP award.
