Buffalo back on top
Detroit is looking to become the first team in NFL history to make the playoffs after a 1-6 start. Playing the best football of his career, Jared Goff passed for 330 yards and three touchdowns in a 34-23 victory over the division-rival Vikings in Week 14. The 28-year-old hasn’t thrown a pick in his past five games, but the Jets defense will pose a problem on Sunday.
Permitting the fourth-fewest passing yards per week (189.4) in the NFL, New York’s D held the Bills to a season-low 232 net yards. They also sacked Josh Allen three times in a hard-fought 20-12 loss to their division rivals.

Mike White battles through injury
Just 1-2 since replacing Zach Wilson, Mike White has failed to throw a touchdown in each of the past two games. Still, the Gang Green signal caller won his teammates’ respect on Sunday versus Buffalo. After taking a number of massive hits in the pocket, White returned from injury twice to pass for 268 yards.
The Lions defense has been much better of late. But, White should be able to find success against a Detroit secondary allowing the third-most passing yards per game (263.4) in the league. Since White’s taken over, Garrett Wilson has made 19 receptions for 335 yards and two TDs. He’s now the favorite to win Offensive Rookie of the Year.
New York vs Detroit
Jets vs Lions is listed as a pick’em with an over-under of 44 points. It’s a low total given Detroit allows the second-most points per week (26.7) and scores the fifth-most points (26.8) in the NFL. Offenive coordinator Ben Johnson calls a balanced game for the Lions, who rank top ten in passing yards per week and just outside the top ten in rushing yards.
While Robert Saleh’s defense is top ten in points per game allowed (18.7), it could be missing Quinnen Williams. The star defensive tackle is uncertain for the game after suffering a calf injury in Week 14.
"The playoffs for the Jets start this Sunday against the Lions at home. If you win, you'll get in. If you lose, you ain't gonna get in. But the opportunity to win is going to be because Mike White continues to play quarterback."

Best Bet
Oddsmakers made this one a pick ’em because it’s impossible to call. Both the Lions and Jets absolutely need this game if they’re going to make the postseason. While it’s going to be close, we think New York’s defense will make a game-winning play to secure the victory in the final seconds.
Final Score Prediction: Jets 21, Lions 20
