The NY Giants will start defending of their title against the hated rivals, the Dallas Cowboys, this Wednesday at 8:30 PM ET at MetLife Stadium. The game will be broadcast by NBC.
The Giants will try to become the first team to repeat a Super Bowl title since the New England Patriots in 2003-04, but there is a long way before that happens, and the Cowboys are the first step.
New York won the last two games in 2011, and also five of the last six meetings against the Cowboys; they covered the spread in all those five wins.
Eli Manning will have his favorite receiver Hakeem Nicks after he got injured in the preseason.
“I wanted to open it up a little bit, and I wanted to get my body back used to it,” said Nicks, who had one catch for 6 yards against the Patriots in their last preseason game. “That’s what I needed”.
Cowboys owner Jerry Jones kindly invited Cowboys fans to Dallas to βwatch us beat the Giantsβ [backsides].β
New York Giants linebacker Mathias KiwanukΒ fired back: βitβs gotta be tough on the outside looking in on all these championships lately.β
βI agree with him,β Jones told USA Today, βand the only thing Iβm saying is that Iβll never get used to it. It is tough on the outside looking in. Thatβs the way I felt when I got in the NFL as an owner. I didnβt want to be on the outside, looking in.
βThe Giants are an inspiration … it is opening the NFL season in front of such a high-profile forum … the Wednesday night game β all of that is there. We have that kind of respect for themβ.
