San Francisco vs New England could easily be the next Super Bowl matchup in February, but why wait until then? 49ers and Patriots clash on Sunday night to see whom the better side at Gillette Stadium is at 8:30 PM ET.
Tom Brady and the Patriots not only did not have problems against the Texans on Monday night, but they look superb on both side of the ball. “It’s a Monday night game,” Brady said. “We have played in a lot of big games in December.”
Brady has thrown 19 touchdowns and one pick in the Patriots last seven games. “It needs to come together now, this is the perfect time for it,” added Brady.
For the 49ers is the opportunity to show what they can do, and to see if they are contenders or pretenders.
“It’s a great opportunity to go out and show what we’re capable of,” Colin Kaepernick said. “They’re going to give you a lot of different looks on defense. You just have to be ready for it”.
“We’re going to be able to see where we are as a defense,” safety Donte Whitner said. “We understand who’s going to have to win that football game, and we think it’s going to be the defense”.
Tom Brady has only faced the 49ers once on his entire career, losing that game in 2005. San Francisco (which was his team as a child) is the only squad Brady hasn’t beat on his career.
The Pats are -5.5 favorites for this matchup.
