Andrew Luck will have a chance to beat his old head coach Jim Harbaugh for the first time since they both joined the NFL.Β Colts and 49ers meet this Sunday at 4:25 PM ET at Candlestick Park, in the NFL Week 3.
“He’s a terrific player,” said Harbaugh about Luck whom he coached at the University of Stanford. “There’s not a lot of weaknesses that he has. We’re going to have to be very sound. He’s a top-notch quarterback in the NFL.”
Both Indianapolis and San Francisco are 1-1 and coming from losses in week 2.Β While the Colts were surprised at home by the Dolphins, the 49ers were smashed by the Seahawks on Sunday night.
“Everybody’s miserable until you get to tee it up again the next Sunday,” coach Colts Chuck Pagano said. “(The 49ers) are coming off a tough loss, we’re coming off a tough loss, so I think it will be the same in both places.”
Indianapolis will have a new weapon to their disposal as they traded for now ex Cleveland running back Trent Richardson on Wednesday.Β Heβll play right away on Sunday. “We did not bring him in here to, I guess, be the water boy on Sunday. He’ll be ready to roll,” Pagano added.
The 49ers are 10 point favorites in the NFL betting spread knowing this will be the third straight playoffs team they face.
“There are things that we’ll put our finger on and try to make improvement, significant improvement, this week,” Harbaugh said. “You want to identify where you can get better and make improvements, and then you want to see those improvements made.”
San Francisco is 16-6-1 ATS in its last 23 games at home according to the betting trends, and Indianapolis is 4-13 SU in its last 17 games on the road.
