Following one of the worst losses of his 18-year career, Aaron Rodgers and the Packers will play host to former coach Mike McCarthy and the Cowboys at Lambeau Field on Sunday.

Rodgers vs McCarthy

While Aaron Rodgers and Mike McCarthy won one Super Bowl together in the 2010 season, the former Packers head coach was always the fall guy for the franchise’s playoff failures. However, the Cowboys bench boss looks a whole lot better now. McCarthy is leading a 6-2 Cowboys team while Rodgers is coming off an ugly three-interception performance.

Leading up to this week’s game, the 38-year-old quarterback says he “hopes that fans give McCarthy the reception he deserves.” But, perhaps Rodgers should be more worried about his own reception following a 15-9 loss to the laughing-stock Lions that dropped Green Bay to 3-6.

Rodgers owns Dallas

Despite his struggles this season, Cowboys fans have reason to be wary of Aaron Rodgers. The four-time NFL MVP has a 7-2 record against Dallas, including divisional playoff wins in 2016 and 2017.

Mike McCarthy was on Green Bay’s sidelines for both those victories, of course. After making the playoffs nine times in 12 full seasons with the Packers, the 58-year-old head coach is on the verge of leading Dallas to the postseason in consecutive years. Something the franchise has not accomplished in 15 years.

Cowboys vs Packers

The Packers are a 5-point home underdog at Lambeau Field and oddsmakers expect a low scoring affair with a 43.5 point total. Green Bay’s 17.1 points per game is the sixth-lowest mark in the NFL. It’s almost six points less than the Cowboys’ weekly output (22.9) even though Dallas played five games without their starting quarterback.

In his second game back from injury in Week 8, Dak Prescott led his club to a 49-29 win over the Bears. The 29-year-old signal caller finished with three total touchdowns and led four straight TD drives to start the game. Coming off a Week 9 bye, he’ll face a Packers defense permitting the second-fewest passing yards per game (170.6).

Will Zeke return?

Cowboys owner Jerry Jones said he expects Ezekiel Elliott to return from a knee injury in Week 10. Yet, Tony Pollard’s fantasy owners hope that’s not the case after the young back produced 147 scrimmage yards and three TDs against Chicago before the bye.

The injury news is much worse for Green Bay. Rashan Gary suffered a torn ACL on Sunday and is lost for the season. Bad news for a Packers D allowing 138.6 rushing yards per game (seventh-worst in the league.)

Best Bet

While it’s tempting to believe Rodgers will turn back the clock to crush Cowboys fans one last time, Dallas’ defense is just too good. Led by NFL Defensive Player of the Year frontrunner Micah Parsons, Dan Quinn’s D leads the league with 33 sacks. The unit also ranks top four in points and passing yards allowed per game.

Final Score Prediction: Cowboys 27, Packers 18
