Two teams that won in week one of preseason meet this Friday at the Mercedes-Benz Superdome as the Tennessee Titans take on the New Orleans Saints, at 8 PM ET, in week two.
The Titans beat the Green Bay Packers 20-16 with second string QB Charlie Whitehurst and rookie Zach Mettenberger having a good game.
“A lot of things we had planned went out the window with the rain, so for nothing else it was a good opportunity to work on that,” Whisenhunt said. “We learned a lot about ourselves and what we have to do to prepare for that. Those aren’t conditions you generally replicate or practice.”
It was the first game coach Ken Whisenhunt with the Titans; he’s yet to name a QB starter, but most believe is Jake Locker’s job to lose.
The New Orleans Saints beat the St. Louis Rams 26-24 last week as running back Mark Ingram recorded 83 yards in eight carries and a 22 yard touchdown.
“We wanted to come out here and start fast,” Ingram said. “The line was just physical up front, got a lot of movement off the ball and created a lot of seams and holes for us to run through.”
For Friday the NFL preseason betting odds listed the Saints as 3.5 points favorites, while the game total is at 43 points.
